Re: Disney World

Through work I got to do Cars Land media event....that was awesome.

I am also now nervous that parks are going to be a shit show with people hoping for early access.

Now that Disney owns all this Fox IP, how soon will we see it in the parks? I imagine we’ll get a bigger Avatar push outside of Pandora. I’m not sure a lot of it fits anywhere other than what Hollywood Studios used to be.

So what happens with Simpson’s land at universal now? Disney basically owns the whole park that isn’t Harry p now.

I think they probably just keep it open and running it as normal and just taking the profit from it.

Not to mention Disney makes money off all the merch sold in Universal, but for now probably nothing. Down the road the deal will eventually expire unless Disney allows Universal to re-up. I’m not sure if the terms are public.

Marvel made a really bad theme park deal because they were broke. I’ve seen it speculated on other message boards that Fox is allowed to look at Universal’s books. So that could get really interesting if true. There’s probably room for Disney to make Universal uncomfortable.

Completely smoke free at parks and water parks starting May 1. So dumb. Don’t see the problem with the designated zones. Granted I don’t even smoke but it was nice to be able to go to a place and vape without having to hide it.

Edit: Seriously though, if I am pushing my stroller, and you cut in front of me, and your heel gets nicked, whose at fault? Hint: Not me.

Edit 2: Once we get rid of strollers, let's also get rid of the rides.

I do as well. I was ripping my juul in the airplane bathroom and I was yelled at by the flight attendant when I came out. Refused to admit I did it. But they wouldn’t let the issue go.

There's strollers and then there's super sized strollers. The super sized strollers that are ridiculously wide and are a nuisance need to go, Amen!

Also, anyone ever see the vid of Space Mountain with the lights on (didn't backread)?

This is actually happening, starting on May 1 as well. Many double strollers will still fit under the requirements.

I'll be bring strollers to Disney even when my kids are older - great place to put stuff, including strollers.

Our baby is turning 1 in a few weeks, and my parents have started a full court press to get us to commit to a Disney trip. I’m thinking fall of 2020is the earliest I’d want to go. Thoughts?

Just changed my reservation in October over to the Polynesian. It was full when we booked our trip back in January and I've been checking often and a room opened up and we jumped on it. Pumped to be staying there for the first time.

I wouldn’t go until your child can walk. It’ll just be a blur in that kids memory.
Sounds like your parents want to go to Disney.

IMO, I think a baby in a stroller that can’t walk is easier than a toddler that can and just wants to run around.

a kid less that 4 will never remember Disney - so unless you're within driving distance (like a few hrs) it's not worth it.

We took our kids every year of their lives from when they were babies. They blur or won't remember is such a dumb argument, if that's they case why have birthday parties for them at that age? They won't remember either. Part of being a parent is enjoying your kids happiness and seeing their expressions as they experience things. The only thing I caution parents that bring kids to the parks at an early age is make it reasonable, don't expect a 10 hour day at the MK, break it up so you can both enjoy it.

Because birthday parties don’t cost thousand of dollars, take up vacation time and hours and hours of planning.

    This.

Taking infants/newborns/even young toddlers just seems absurd and waaaaaaaaaaaaay more hassle than it's worth.

    Re: Disney World

Just got back from taking my 2.5 year old. The flight was so terrible for him that we decided to drive home. He also cried anytime a character violated his two foot personal space bubble.

That said... I’m glad we took him. He was fine with characters at a distance and when they left. He loved the pools. He LOVED the safari and Small World. To see his amazement and excitement was worth it for us. Will he remember it? Not likely. But we have the memories and pics to prove it.
