Dear frustrated fellow fan:
First of all,
this forum was set up to help with such matters. There may be better or more complete information there.
As far as using torrents is concerned, I would guess that your problem is either your software or your internet connection. If it's your connection, i don't even know what to suggest. But for your software, I would suggest using ABC (another bittorrent client). In my experience, it's simple and trouble-free. Click on the torrent link, tell ABC which directory to use on your hard drive, and wait.
Regarding getting FLAC files into Windows Media Player, I believe you would have to convert them to another format, because I don't think you can get WMP to recognize FLAC files. I would recommend downloading an audio player called foobar2000 to play FLAC files.
Finally, I have to respond to
"this BT & FLAC crap." Bittorrent (and most widely used P2P systems) is a wonderful technology without which we DMB fans would not be able to download these shows. AM.org gave it a shot with the SHN servers, but could not maintain it (my guess is because of cost of bandwidth, which must have been outrageous). It's a great system - shows are easiest to get when the most people want them. I downloaded the 6/2 show overnight a few nights ago. That's amazing! And then there's FLAC. Without this free software, the shows you're downloading would take one and a half to two times as long to get to you. The other commonly used lossless audio format is WMA-lossless, which Microsoft owns and intends to make money on. I love these technologies, and frankly, if you appreciate being able to get ahold of these shows, you should too.
Here is the link to Crumbo's fixed torrent for 5/30 (considered to be the best source). Again, if you have ABC installed, the process should be pretty easy after you click the link.
