Cry Freedom

I think Cry Freedom ranks in the Spoon category and is a phenominal song. I think it is truly underrated on these boards. What are your thoughts?

Eh.. It's alright I suppose. I've seen it once live and honestly that was enough for me. There are other songs I'd rather see. And other songs that I think are musically and lyrically better.

I don't think it's underrated. I think the majority know it to be one of the bands all time best tunes.

I adore Cry Freedom and can not wait until I get it at a show. I don't think it's up to par with Spoon; but I'm a firm believer Spoon is probably the best piece of music DMB has produced

Lyrically???? Not many, if any. Sure The Stone and Seek Up, but Cry Freedom and Spoon are as deep as that man's gone in a very long time!!!

Easily top 10 for me. Seeing it at the D&F show in Rochester was a DMB highlight for me. The outro on L@LC is perfect.

When I first started getting into DMB back in 02, I remember this being one of my favorite songs to listen to. I remember at my first show Dave came out an dplayed it solo in the E1 spot. Only heard it twice since then the last being in 04. One of their best songs for sure

I really love this song. L@LC is a great version. Wish this was played more often...none since '03 I think...

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to call me out for my opinion.

I just don't like it as much as a few others. I do like Spoon more than Cry Freedom, too.

Seeing it Full Band was more enjoyable for me as opposed to my 2 D&T experiences. Don't get me wrong, pretty much everything Tim plays on is golden imo, but when it's full band and in the intro Dave says "To place your better days" and the bass and drums (actually full band if I remember) come in.. it has such power to it. I've only seen it once full band in 03 and I'll never forget it..

never seen it full band but saw it D&T and it was awe inspiring you can see the struggle in daves expressions when he sings and it's clear dave has seen oppression most of us haven't and hopefully never will.

how can you call something underrated that hasnt been played more than 20 times in the last...oh, 4-5 years?

thats like me saying HHW is REAL underrated here. well no shit, we all download the tapes, and if it's not on the tapes, chances are very rare that it'll just be brought up in random conversation. doesnt mean we dont love it.
