Setlist and guitar. If Dave is coming out solo in the encore with that guitar, it's either gonna be Whiter Shade or Baby Blue, and we see how often they play Baby Blue

FWIW, printed set on the almanac just says "solo". However, he did play Whiter Shade the following show at WPB in that same solo slot. Probably a high probability that it was going to be that. Especially with the guitar.

The set list, at least the one on dmbalmanac just says "Solo" in that spot.

I think it's more about the guitar. He only uses that one (Veilette Gryphon) for a few songs, and I think Whiter Shade of Pale is the only one he'd be likely to play in a solo spot. He played it multiple times in the spot that tour, including two shows prior (and played The Space Between in that intervening show) and the show immediately following as well.

Jesse, are you going to Gorge next year and if so, are you making grilled cheese sandwiches?

most likely not. I have an old friend I haven't seen in years who hit me up over the summer asking if I wanted to go with her to Tomorrowland 2022 in Belgium. Her sister was originally gonna go with her this summer, but after it got pushed for the second year in a row, she passed. My friend said all I have to do is get my passport and the time off and we'll figure out the expenses as she is paying for the flights in miles. I have no idea if that is actually going to happen or not, but I'm going to try like hell. That is at the end of July and I'll need at least 10 vacation days at minimum. I get 3 weeks at my job, so it's going to cut it close.

If I can swing Roo 22 in June and Tomorrowland 22 in July, I'll be capped out for the year.

I will ALWAYS make grilled cheese though.

#41 from Irvine was pretty cool. At one point in Tim's solo, he played in a style that almost sounded like banjo playing . Then Jeff and Rashawn did a long Sojourn of Arjuna interpolation.

Disagree with both! Love the sax solo by Jeff in Billies.

Guitar solos work great in many DMB songs with the current lineup. Nancies, Warehouse, YMDT and others sound great. I do miss the sax in #41, but I'll have to give that Irvine performance a listen.

Imagine if you were at a show and they started playing Jimi Thing, and about 8 minutes in at the last "BEREEEEAAAVVVEEDD AS I'M FEEEELINNGGGGGGG" they did that stop like they usually do before going into the jam, except after the pause, he yelled "BABBBYYYYY" and they went into Anyone Seen the Bridge into Too Much/Grey St/Billies/whatever

Nice pick. It looks like is mostly Dave having an hard time to follow what Tim does.

I think it's easy to take for granted that a lot of practice and rehearsal (usually) still goes into these performances--even for as long as Dave and Tim have been playing together.

The situation at the Gorge definitely put them on the spot.

LT 30 is some of the best LeRoi playing we have. Revisited that release today. It’s unbelievable - his solos to open Satellite and Typical are on another level

SPAC N2. They make an extraordinary set, then they end with Shake Me Like A Monkey.

I put here two possible explanations:

    a) For Dave, songs are like kids. You love them even if they come out ugly. You do not make distinctions.

    b) Dave is a bit sadistic, in his own funny way. Listen to what he says at the end of So Damn Lucky at SPAC N1: “you don’t know, that this one right here is your favorite”, and then he goes with Can’t Stop.
Now, Dave knows perfectly which songs the crowd likes or dislikes, but it hurts so much to his pride that some people think Can’t Stop is shit, so he feels some hidden pleasure presenting the song as everyone’s favorite.

    1 Big Eyed Fish »
    2 Bartender
    3 Grace Is Gone
    4 Grey Street

I'd take this run any day. I like the idea of doing extended runs of songs off one album of the big four. Full albums in order would be even better but they'll never do it. If you get 3 sequential runs like this in a set, DM can call the remaining 40% of the set from his bucket of fav go-to songs (that fall somewhere between inoffensive and quite bad) and people would be happy. Song order is really so important to a set

Why didn’t either of Dave’s two studio albums without the band get a vinyl pressing? Especially some devil. The album is nothing short of phenomenal. It deserves it. Hell, my ears deserve it.
