I put here two possible explanations:
a)
For Dave, songs are like kids. You love them even if they come out ugly. You do not make distinctions.
b)
Dave is a bit sadistic, in his own funny way. Listen to what he says at the end of
So Damn Lucky at SPAC N1:
“you don’t know, that this one right here is your favorite”, and then he goes with
Can’t Stop.
Now, Dave
knows perfectly which songs the crowd likes or dislikes, but it hurts so much to his pride that some people think Can’t Stop is shit, so he feels some hidden pleasure presenting the song as
everyone’s favorite.
