Re: ~*~*~*~ Texas 2010 ~*~*~*~

I really feel like The Woodlands is THE best kept secret as far as venues go. It's definitely the nicest shed amphitheater I've ever visited, and the surrounding area is clean, accessible, plenty of bars/restaraunts... Just top notch all around.

It's a shame they don't do any two nighters there anymore...

the Woodlands is a different experience. Your not going to get a rowdy crowd, and your not going to tailgate traditionally. I also dont have to worry about the pit being at double capacity because of the security, but I feel like I am going through an airport security line when entering.

I have been to many sheds and I agree that the Woodlands is great--maybe even the nicest. Have you been to the amphitheater in Selma, Texas? It used to be Verizon Wireless...not sure if it is even used anymore but that is one damn nice shed also. I was there in 2007 and it looked brand new. But it doesn't have the surrounding area that the Woodlands does...this is why I will make a roadtrip from Florida to Texas again for the Woodlands show. I really liked it there.

and the Woodlands, as a venue at least, puts Superpages in Dallas to utter shame. That place is a dump

If the public on sale is 2/12 then dates should be released next week, right?

I saw every show DMB did there. It's about a mile from the house I grew up in. It is currently shut down, and for sale.

It had nice facilities but I hated the way it was set up. The reserve section was WAY too big. Most of the reserved seats had shitty views and even if you got the very front of the lawn, you were about a mile from the stage. It didn't have the intimate feel that The Pavilion has. I've been all over the Pavilion in the Woodlands and there's not really a bad seat in the house. Selma on the other hand, seemed like there were very few good spots.

That being said, I really wish they would have kept playing there. It's an hour from me, and I have a place to stay less than a mile from the venue.

A-Men. After Ike hit they somehow made it even better by adding that kick ass speaker system for the lawn. The acoustics there in general are top notch.

As for Dallas... W T F! How can they even play there? Last year was my first year, and I doubt I will go back there, ever. It is fucking pathetic. I have never heard such a shitty sound system. My local bar's karaoke machine sounds better. Horrible sight lines, shitty lawn, shit, I even saw a swastika in the guys bathroom.

Dallas is the chose of Texas in general. Their venue and associated people should be no different.

    Jk. Kinda. Not really.

Yea, the lawn at Dallas is unbearable.

For Radiohead a couple years ago I was in the pit at The Woodlands, then on the lawn the next night in Dallas. BRUTAL transition.

ive only been to the woodlands once and sat in the lawn and thought it was the biggest improvement from the lawn in dallas. being a poor college student ive never been able to afford to buy the tickets for any show on the release day and this year i for sure will be able to. my question is how do i get the best seats when they go on sale? is ticket master the way to go?

also, i go to texas tech and im very good friends with the head of events at the texas tech facilities. he had told me months ago that dmb could possibly be coming and when i asked him recently he replied with a smile and a "hopefully" but thats all he could give me. im really eager to see if tech could get a september 14th show. but i have my doubts

and im really hoping the rains stay away in dallas this year for my tailgate.

What's the latest on WH ticket request dates? I've heard nothing through the email system and assuming we won't until the DMB site officially announces tour dates. Will be out of town on a trip in a couple weeks, want to make sure I don't miss out on an important date.

Pearl Jam played Tech about 5-8 years ago, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility, though I highly doubt it.

As to tickets, if you're not an early WH member, you're kinda screwed as far as pulling lower level seats. You can pull a decent single ticket off Ticketbastard, but a pair is pretty much a lost cause.
Your best chance is to comb these boards (Ticket Exchange) and the WH boards looking for members selling. I've scored some sweet seats this way in years past.

^ They COULD do a Zilker show like The Rolling Stones did a couple years ago, but they wont. I think the only way we see them in Austin again is if they do ACL festival again.

^ I've been saying for a few years how bad ass a DMB show in round rock would be. A minor league park and DMB. Awesome.

Guess we'll know what's going to happen in a few short hours!

That venue kinda sucks. I wouldn't miss a show there because I live in Texas and we're down to two shows a year hut it still sucks.
If there's any way you can hit Woodlands too, I would definitely advise you do so.

JustinK and I will be hosting a tailgate in Dallas again this year (assuming it doesn't get rained out again) so you should definitely stop by, have a beer and meet few Ants.

Houston is my hometown show, and so glad its 9/10. 9/11 I'll be skipping as we got Ohio State/Miami and Alabama/Penn State that day. I am not looking to be in the GA pit, even with that great security at the Woodlands - in fact, I am surprised that the Woodlands agreed to it. Hopefully we won't be more then 6-7 rows back from the pit.

Same here + Mansfield. That's shaping up to be a bad ass trip. Planning on spending the night between the two nights stands rocking the town in Boston.

I'm up for it, as long as you don't right my license plate down. Although I wouldn't want to get into a real intense conversation during my relax time.

I'm really going to try and hit SPAC this year. The Sox are in town before SPAC so I may fly into Boston to see a game, drive to SPAC, then back to Mansfield for those 2 shows. If that's too much trouble I'll just fly into Albany and out of Boston. Glad I'm off today so I can sort all this stuff out and start reserving rooms.
