    So annoying.

Tool is one I need to check off my list though. I was more hesitant with Sturgill since I've seen him at Stubb's, Moody, and COTA. But in the end, I caved.

Yea, that was a kick in the dick.

Though, since a certain other band who charges that much has pretty much told me to kiss their ass, I can use the money I'm saving by not seeing them for Sturgill and other bands.

I have been kinda "well I understand that he's good and important but I don't like it, personally" on SS until I heard the most recent record, which was much more "hey this is pretty good" than earth shattering to me

long-winded way of saying that it's not in 150$ territory for me

If you haven't seen them before it's definitely worth it. I preferred the Derek Trucks Band but it's still a really great show. Derek is a guitar god and Susan sings like an angel. I wish I'd gone out of my way to see them more.

No, not really. It was a joke. Not having a violin, putting out a truly awful album, playing uninspired setlists and charging $170 a ticket for all of that is what has me reducing the amount of shows down to nearly zero, not some comment Dave made in an interview.

Caught my first Tool show in Milwaukee on Halloween. Visuals and music were pretty badass. Didn't know about their policy of no phones and cameras going into it, my first such show and it was pretty nice not seeing a few thousand phone screens in my face at any given time. I typically take a few pics of my seats and stage for future reference but didn't mind.

Seeing The Marcus King Band this weekend here in Milwaukee for the first time as well. Buddy of mine turned me on to them a year ago or so and I really like what these guys put out. Anybody else seen them around?

Saw Elton John last night in Boston. Sounded great, had a fun time, almost a 3 hour show.

    Re: Your 2019 Concerts

Saw the Last Waltz tour show at MGM National Harbor on Thursday. I took my parents as a gift. Wow, what a show. They played an hour and took and intermission and then came out and played for nearly another two hours. The show started at about 8:20 (despite 8PM scheduled start), 9:26 intermission, 9:45 (or so) Medeski comes out and just goes off on the B3 as an intro ("The Genetic Method") to Chest Fever (one of the my favorite songs EVER), super short encore break after I Shall Be Released, and closed it out with Such a Night (tribute to Dr. John who joined them for some shows in 2017) and Don't Do It...wrapping up at about 11:50PM.

Warren...well he's just a conduit for music and musicality. Killer guitarist AND singer. Terrence, Medeski, Was...just killer support. Terrence and John are monsters...Levon's drums and Garth amply were covered. Don's a very good and solid bass player, but he's no Danko. Rick had a vibrance/life to his playing, even a bounce, that Don just didn't capture. Jamey Johnson was someone I was kinda hesitant about, but his pipes were killer...generally covering the Levon parts, but obviously very different singers. Turns out that he's a decent guitar player too. The biggest surprise of the night for my father and I was Lukas Nelson. He just killed it. Obviously he has his very own unique voice, but you could hear him putting in Rick's inflections. Similarly when they did Helpless...he played Neil Young role and the working with Neil clearly helped. Same when they did Dylan's tune, he was clearly touching on Bob's vocal styling. And this wasn't limited to his voice. During the Band tunes when he soloed he was definitely going for Robbie's nuances, then Neil's, but also his own...just so great.

One of the best things about the Band, like the Beatles, Nickel Creek, CSN(&Y), the Avett Brothers, and so many other of my favorite bands is the vocal harmonies. Warren, Lukas, and Jamey just killed it. Like Levon, Richard, and Rick, three distinctly unique voices combining to bring the songs back to life. The didn't sound exactly like the Band, but they nailed the feel and spirit of the Band and their music. Dave Malone from the Radiators added another voice and guitar playing that was top notch. Cyril Neville played some sweet percussion and sang a few tunes. And Bob Margolin, Muddy Waters' guitar player back when they did The Last Waltz came out and played tribute to Muddy and brought so much energy. Last, but not least, Mark Mullins & The Levee Horns were killer. Mark did the arrangements and we got to hear I think three really cool and tremendously fun sousaphone solos!!!

I never got to see the Band, so this is as close as I've ever gotten and anyone else is likely to get ever again. If you like the Band and can get to show, I highly recommend it. Lots of great playing, some nice jams, and just excellent music performed with love. Seeing that they change up the set somewhat AND that there aren't a lot of other outfits tackling this catalog or show, I'll definitely see them again next time they head out.

How do they enforce that? Is it like a Chappelle thing where they lock your phone in a bag, or just a "we see it out youre getting tossed" type of deal?

The latter. It’s incredible the difference it makes. When they start Stinkfist Maynard tells people they can record it and the difference is unbelievable.

Before the show there were multiple announcements over the PA. Then twice before the show ushers going up and down the aisles announcing it as well. Guy next to mentioned seeing about 10 people booted at the previous show he was at.

It really was crazy. It was almost instantly you see thousands of bright phone screens go up.

    Re: Your 2019 Concerts

Saw U2 in Sydney last night as they did their Joshua Tree tour...hardly up close and personal seats, but they only cost $65 each (so only 45 or so US dollarydoos).

Outstanding show. The stage setup was spectacular, plenty of familiar favourites and a wonderful night overall.

Bought a last minute ticket to see Greta Van Fleet in Nashville last night. Never seen them before but they put on a helluva show. Kinda short but lots of energy, great musicianship (really tight) and the crowd was really into it. I was really surprised at the performance.
