Virginia In The Rain

I love this song, but does anyone feel there is a lack of fonz in the live versions? I can barley hear any bass on it. I hope they fleshed that out more on the studio version.

Well the only versions available are fan recordings. I'm sure there will be plenty of bass in the studio recording.

I'm happy this made the cut over DOTHS. That one bores me, but Virginia could be fantastic in the studio.

Agreed, but it's almost to the point that I'm wondering if he is playing at all on it in the live versions?!?!?!

I heard the State Farm sessions version of VITR for the first time the other day. It is structurally edited and there is talking over it at some points, BUT you can actually hear what Fonz is doing and it is very cool. It makes me even more excited for the studio version.

    VITR starts around 26 mins

Fonz’s bass part on this is actually really good.

Can’t wait to hear it on the record. Still avoiding listening to these songs, but I remember seeing it live, the outro was great

Out of the new songs I am least excited about this one. It is just boring to me. Hoping the studio version surprises me.

Hearing a turned-up Fonz there reminds me that this song could be really, really good in the studio

Fonz's bassline is one of the best things about the song. Find the taper version of the Anniversary show and it's pretty clear in the opening moments.

One of the new songs I am mot excited to hear with studio treatment. I know most find it sleepy, but it's always been really impacting for me.

Might be the best song on the album. Very well executed.

I don't understand all the praise this song has earned. I thought it was boring live, and I found myself wanting to skip through it on my first listen. Very slow song that doesn't really go any where.

Wow. Just got finished listening to the album for the first time. This track is amazing. Definitely one of the best studio tracks they've made in years. Easily my favorite on the album, which I like quite a bit by the way

I was not really into this song or Again and Again just from hearing the live performances but wow...the studio cuts of these songs are amazing. I'm really loving (most of) this album. It has a great vibe about it that's been missing for a long time

there is a strong build the song had live that I didn't get from the studio version. I think it's a great cut, but it doesn't explode like it did live, so this track actually disappoints me a little.

Live versions of Virginia in the rain always bored the crap out of me. Love the studio version. The bass sounds great to me.

Both things can be true. VITR live is definitely a bit of a snooze, but the album version is fantastic. Love it. Fonz absolutely crushes it.

Theres a big difference between listening to VITR drinking coffee on your deck and seeing it with 30K people. I will listen to it in my car all day, will get a beer everytime its played live

Played this for a friend who never heard the band, and he said, "That's not what I thought Dave Matthews sounded like at all." Pretty accurate, but goes to show there are a wide variety of good tunes on this album to showcase to people w different tastes. I played TGIY for a totally different friend who loved it, probably wouldn't love VITR.
