Re: Song Poster Series

I typically only collect posters from shows i attended, mainly to keep the hobby in check, but i love this idea. I will buy any posters that are for my favorite songs or if the art blows me away. The Everyday poster was one i could live without. Cant wait to see where this poster series goes.

    That's kinda our view too.

We did love the art for NC and AC shows from the Drive-Ins, so we bought those. We also bought for the shows we did see, but didn't like or buy the posters at the show...so Hartford and SPAC.

Also looking forward to seeing what songs they do.

This does, however, make me wonder about what's going on w/ the tour. Seems like this would have better don't last year when all tours were cancelled. Doing this year if bands are touring, the artists will have plenty of work and sales. Might this speak to not touring for most of the summer? Just wondering...

Other thought could be, if they do manage some dates, might not be fronting the costs of printing posters for dates that may easily be canceled last minute. If shows happen, merch may either be extremely generic or more of a preorder type deal.

We all know anyway that the 2021 tour isn't happening, but this product announcement officially confirms it for me.

This has absolutely nothing to do with shows occurring in 2021 or not. Zip, zero, zilch.

I wouldn’t rule out 2021 shows. A full summer tour? Eh probably not.

I'm trying to figure out how you do shows w/o everyone in/at the venue being vaccinated...from a liability standpoint.

Sadly, even if it's a requirement, a bunch of twats out there are going to work on gaming the system and potentially putting folks at risk because they're too ignorant to get vaccinated but "have" to go to shows.

You put a disclaimer on the tickets and through out the venue that says enter at your own risk. If you choose to enter and then get Covid that is on you. They have those at restaurants and other establishments already. I truly don't understand the obsession so many here have with covid liability. No one will ever be forced to attend a large event. If you choose to do so when they return you assume that risk.

How often are these posters being released? Monthly maybe? I also wonder how many they plan on doing.

So this was to be a series. The first email I saw was dated March 4...seems like FOREVER ago. Theoretically they should announce a new one either sometime around this coming weekend. If, that is, they're being released monthly AND they've decided to keep going forward w/ the series.

I would like them to find some artists that incorporate type into the images better. It’s a nice illustration just not my taste. Band name seems like an afterthought and as mentioned lyrics in the back? I guess maybe that is Just to let you know the song choice.

I just wish they found some artists like Eduardo Recife misprinted type prints or Kevin Mercer large mammal prints, etc. Something that makes you think a little more.

I always wanted to design a poster like that old dead one where it’s one city scene with all of the songs illustrated in it somehow. Think kind of like Dave’s BWATGK cover but all of their songs. Would take a long time but would sell I think.

I’ll keep checking these out and maybe something will stand out but their posters never grab me. I even think the come tomorrow cut outs were so much more interesting than this.

Second poster is Ants Marching. WH just emailed members.

I guess I just don’t get the song series. Don’t see getting any of these.

    Has anyone bought one?

I bought Ants. Skipped Everyday. I will be very selective on this series, either song or Art has to be worth it to me. I would skip my favorite song if the art was terrible though.

Missed the gold foil but picked up a standard copy. Skipped Everyday. Same thought process, only picking up ones that are visually interesting to me

I have trouble determining if it's actually a great poster, or I'm just so used to the low bar set by Methane's garbage. No interest in buying the poster, but I think I like it.

Here's my massive first world issue with the latest poster...it's vertical. I want more horizontal posters. I'd dig a vertical Eads, but I'd rather not buy another 18 x 24 portrait orientated poster. Unless they are a pair that can either be framed together or hung together to provide that landscape look/feel.

This is how freaking lucky we've been in life and through the shit show of the last few years, that I can complain about the orientation of pop art ephemera...

I don't typically go for posters that aren't shows I went to, but I thought this Ants poster was really cool, a lot of little Easter eggs. So I bought it, going to try and grab Raleigh and Charlotte in July.

In general, i think foil is overrated. Just a gimmick to charge a few extra bucks. It can be cool if done right, but it's harder to handle properly and limited quantities make it a pain in the ass to acquire. I only have 1 foil--Columbus 2018, but being a huge Ohio State fan, it hit on two of my favorite hobbies, so i way overpaid for it. I don't know, just my 2 cents.
