The tailgating is taking place in the parking lot, where families and kids etc are parking to enter and leave the amusement park. They crack down more than most because of that I suspect.

They never crack down on responsible adults enjoying a few drinks though. Just be responsible, and you'll have a great time.

I'll second that. Last year we parked by the Chocolate World entrance. A car was parked a couple spots down from ours, everyone was above age, and they broke out the chairs and some beers. Security asked them to put the drinks into cups, they didn't have cups so the guard working the area helped them by asking us if we had any extra cups...we did...he gave them the cups and he then let them be. I have never had any issues with pre-concert tailgating at HP. As long as everyone acts responsible there won't be any issues.

I gave it a 4. I live about 15 minutes from the park and I've never had a bad show (first few shows I just had the GA or snuck into the GA area, past few shows I've had front reserved) Obviously, I'm biased.

Also, Troegs brewery will be opening a new brewery just outside the park entrance, which makes the scene even better.

Ive honestly never heard another person disliking Starlake (or whatever you wanna call it)
I love Star Lake/Post-Gazette/First Niagara! It was my home venue for the first seven years of my concert going. Even though I live 500 miles from it now, I still consider it home. Never had a poor view of the shows there. The parking and traffic is a mess, but I usually mentally prep myself for such things weeks prior to any concert event. I would agree that I wish it were closer to the city, but I still don't mind the drive that much. Also, I have always always always had a kickass time tailgating at the Pittsburgh shows. People in the Steel City know how to have a good time at a concert.

You shouldn't be driving after either. Again, I said responsibly enjoying a few beverages.

I gave it a 1. As a point of reference i'm used to going to Camden shows.

    What I don't like:
    - I always have a awful time with traffic getting to and leaving the venue.

    - Beer sales stopped before the band went on stage. If i'm going to pay close to $8 for a beer i'd like to enjoy while watching the band

    - bathrooms are small and the lines are awful

    - Ive had both GA Pit and sat in the bleachers and both vantage points are awful. standing on a flat football field is a awful way to watch a concert and sitting on a concret slab not facing the stage is just as bad

    What I do like:
    - The open air venue is great when you have a nice summer night.

I'm from Hershey and I saw my first show there. I've been to great venues since, and you just can't compare it to an amphitheater. Bad acoustics, plus that awkward 20-yard-long gap between front and back GA make this one of my least favorite places for a show. But I live 5 minutes away, so I go anyways. And people have already commented earlier, but take it from a guy who went to Hershey High School: the cops are so strict. It's almost like they have an office pool going or something when Dave comes to town to see who can bust the most people.

probably because this is not a thread for discussing shows at the stadium but just the stadium it self. the venue still sucks, even if they play a remarkable show at said venue.

p.s. it wasn't even that good of a show, IMO.

I give it a 2, solely based on the much improved sound quality I've heard there over the past couple years. That said, the sightlines are awful if you're not on the floor or within the 2nd-4th sections in the grandstands (parts of the closest sections are decent, but if you're too far over you can't see like 1/3 of the stage), the parking lot can be murder to get out of, and to say the place is in disrepair is being incredibly nice.
