Further proof of how well and mandolin or similar instrument would cover the violin...not that anyone was arguing that point. But Hamilton de Holanda on the bandolin would have been an excellent choice. Maybe if they go back to the core sound at some point in the future we can have just Dave, Carter, Fonz, Jeff, and Hamilton do a tour...possibly w/ Timmy if it's an acoustic tour...

100% agree. "Shotgun. Everybody get down on the floor. I don't want to hurt anyone anymore" always hits me hard. If ever a studio version is released I hope that line is in it.

That is a frontrunner for best second verse for sure. I've always considered Riverbend 8.22.07 the best. Have since slowly converted to the accepted best as per the majority of the fanbase. Charlottesville 2006.

I’d love that. Hamilton is a great musician.

I also suggested some time ago a tour where each night had a different guest. But I know it would take a lot of preparation.
But at least there could be three or of four rotating guests like:
Hamilton
Carlos Malta
Another violin (I’d like Larry Campbell)
Trey?
A percussionist (Martinez?)

Every night we would hear a totally different sound.

At the least the first three of the list above are already able to play many of DMB songs.

Was listening to UTTAD yesterday, and thought that if R&R and Stay were swapped for one another, two great albums would have been made even stronger. Timing-wise maybe this wasn’t even possible, but the overall flows thematic styles of each album would have also been further strengthened.

R&R was such a black sheep on UTTAD. I still don't like it at all. Stay fit in well with BTCS imo.

I think Help Myself at track 5 in place of stay would've elevated the flow of BTCS. It's one of my favorite songs, and the studio cut is perfect. But I kind of love Stay, and think it fits really well there. Stefan's bass sounds so good on the studio track. He really has some amazing bass work throughout the whole album.

I think the wrong song got trimmed in The Last Stop. If they kept 41, Crush, Jimmy Thing, Bartender and Seek up inside of 12 minutes each, they could fit 2 more songs in a set.

Agreed. Really hope they have some fresh solo sections or switch up some song structures for 2021.

Problem is, they'll cut #41's jam but then add You & Me or Can't Stop as the filler instead of something good.

I really hope sets are better in 2021 than 2019 was.

I get a feeling we'll see some good sets with deep cuts and rarities, similar to 2013. As far as switching up formats, I think #41 is long overdue for a change. Bring back a sax solo, and change the ending. Also, Dreaming Tree has been absent for so long, I think it should come back into rotation with an entirely different jam section. Cut the chocolate rain section out, maybe have Buddy soloing on piano and Jeff on flute, clock in around 10 minutes.

Also, and this has been said by another user, but the stop time intro to Warehouse could come back this year, and I'd dig it. Ultimately, I prefer the old school intro like 99% of the time. But It's been along time since they've done the stop time intro (2009?)

I’ve been saying this for years. I’ll go further and say 10 min cap on any tune and play MORE songs. But 12 is fine.

No song should be more than 12 minutes unless they’re playing a 78 minute #41 with the Flecktones.

9 minutes is wheelhouse length. Most songs are 4-5 minutes. That leaves 4-5 minutes for jamming. Perfect.
