2 week rule or no Caravan 2011 section on Ants

Just curious, Will Ants have a 2011 torrents section? If so, is it not up because of the 2 week rule?

Please don't lock the thread, I am not asking for the torrents but just if Ants will host a section for the trackers.

Looks like Scott Brown recorded front and rear facing mics for Night 3 and will be upping a Quad mix shortly in 24-bit.

I already got Sunday night from Scott Brown....I am not well versed in recording verbage, will it be worth it to get the Quad mix in 24-bit when he puts it up or will it even sound different?

Welcome to ants! For most people (myself included), no. I can't even hear the difference between mp3s and FLAC on my computer speakers. You should be just fine with the one you have.

I not sure you understand what the quad mix is, it has nothing to do with fidelity, it has to do with surround adding the ambience of the rear mics.

Yes, anyone should be able to hear the difference between a stereo and a quad mix.

Not surprising that .mp3's and .flac's present very little difference on computer speakers, they're not designed to be highly resolving.

If you have a surround sound system then I would say yes it will definitely be worth it and it will definitely sound different. However it won't add anything in terms of fidelity to the performance, it will merely add the ambience of being in the crowd more accurately.

I have full range surround speakers and surround (usually 5.1, but often quad as well) is my favourite way to experience music.

Quad is quadraphonic sound and as the name insinuates means 4.0, two front speakers and two rear speakers. It was predominantly used on Quad recordings in the 70's on vinyl, now most surround recordings are done with a 5.1 set-up in mind.

bump andddd a quad mix was how The Who first recorded. two speakers in the front and two behind you. it was not 5.1 or 7.1, more like 4.0 or just 4. i think by quad mix he meant 4 mics... When a concert is recorded they grab 2 mics and face them towards the stage/line arrays, so if he used four and the "rear" two were just behind the fronts except facing back, he was either trying to give you the 360 perspective from that listening position or he actually put 2 mics in the rear of the venue nowhere near the front-facing mics.

Trying to find copies of the Chicago Caravan shows. I'd love to give a copy to my cousin who had his first DMB show (well 3) at the Caravan.
