Re: I Know I Know but... Next Live Trax Please

I agree 07 is way over represented. LT51 is the most random and unnecessary LT. But that show from the Hollywood Bowl is iconic and needs to be released someday. No more 07 shows aside from that one. I’d rather LT60 be an iconic early 90s show (or compilation like LT30). So maybe LT70 or LT80 for Hollywood Bowl.

Along with my wish for a 94 Fox Theater compilation and the 95 NYE show, I’d also like the 95 run opening for the Dead.

HB all day. I’m not opposed to an 05 LT, but I’d rather see a fall tour or AUS show for an 05 LT before the Summer tour. And it would get us a much more special #34 in the LT series instead of our fifth from 05.

    at that show being overrated.

Two Step that show had a well loved intro around here (as well as overall performance).

ABI>Grey Street also awesome. was a true segue and not the typical "one song stops, the next one immediately begins" that the band does.

Exodus with Stephen & Ziggy Marley and company is significant too.

The run with Danny Barnes is pretty awesome too, might show people that guy was more than just the Road and Cornbread performances he'd be limited to in the following years.

Been hoping for that show to be released since the moment Grey Street ended and I was headed home back in 2007

I've just never been crazy about that encore. Not a big ABI fan, and Grey Street didn't sound great. Especially in 2007.

John Mayer guesting when DMB had no lead guitarist (Mayer is better than Tim anyway). Last #34 with Roi. Yeah, 10.02.07 is not overrated.

We’re starting to get past the point where people would be “so?” on LTs like this.

Maybe it's a standard 1999 set, but not all performances are equal...

I'm with you. There was awhile during the dmblive run that I got tired of seeing the 95/96 shows.. But I'd take multi tracks of those years anytime now. Really disappointed in the LT 59 choice. I think there's 1 every 10 or so I just don't understand.. I'll likely end up getting it with a larger package one day out of boredom when I buy 2 or 3 tshirts or something... so I don't have to pay shipping on something... But no excitement for it.

    Excellent take.
I was listening to that the other day.

Also, there is a good description of it in Delancey’s book, as one of the best thing in 1995:

“On February 23 and 24, 1095, DMB played two sold out shows at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. They are generally considered to rank among the band's finest sets of back-to-back live, performances.

The Roseland shows started with the band tuning up - it sounded like a charivari - as Dave announced "Back in New York City!" His words echoed throughout the ballroom. Then the band broke into an inspired version of Seek Up, during which Dave sang: You seek up an emotion / Sometimes your well is dry, Hey!" It became a
concert ritual for diehard DMB fans to shout "Hey!" along with Dave and the band during "Seek Up." Lessard's bass work was especially outstanding on the two Roseland versions of "'Seek Up."
Before the band launched into "Dancing Nancies," Dave shared some thoughts:
"So uh, I know that uh, when someone quests when someone comes up to you and says, 'Man, you're all fucked up" then you uh, you get kinda pissed off,. 'Cause vou say, ohwuhuuh, 'Listen, man, I am what lam. I'm what I am. I do my best thing”. But I said sometimes I - I wonder if uh
…. if maybe when someone tells me I'm all fucked up, if maybe they got a point or something, you know.!"
This is widely accepted as vintage Davespeak.
At Roseland, after ‘Dancing Nancies,' Dave segued right into: "Here's a song called 'Lie in Our Graves.' It's about being dead, yeah."

I believe the tapes you can download of these shows are of the last they allowed to plug into the soundboard. Great quality.

Popper on Say Goodbye is outstanding. These shows are fantastic

'99 and '00 Gorge is good stuff.

The 2016 Gorge show? Set was good, Boyd's last show. But Dave's voice was very rough.

2000 Gorge tapes are amazing. I have the IEMs, but they make Boyd's violin sound strange, I can't listen to those. But he sounds great on the audience tape.

Has 4.7.2002 been mentioned before? Just picked up on this from the alternate lyrics Bartender thread in DMBc. I like this set, a lot.

Re: I Know I Know but... Next Live Trax Please

If we’re talking Spring 2002, take a look at this show…

This version of Watchtower is incredible with Warren guesting. The way Dave sings the intro is very good. One of the best I’ve heard. Also Warren sings the end part instead of Dave. It is one of my absolute favorite Watchtowers. Dave’s vocals on Raven are really good on this show too (especially the last chorus). I’m guessing it probably will never be released though because it was Boyd’s birthday
