Re: Modern Family on ABC
The direction that some of the elements of this show have been taking lately... ehh, make me feel a little sketchy about next season. This show I don't think is anywhere near the consistent sort of powerhouse it used to be. Phil was such a great character in the first few years, but he seems to be devolving more and more into just a caricature. I mean with this wedding, even though in the very end it worked out alright, he was completely oblivious for awhile before that of how ridiculous he was obsessing about his magic act and trying to make things too much about him, letting the focus be on the marriage itself. and Manny, with how bizarre he's been from minute one, it was actually sort of fitting them doing the subplot of he and Luke accidentally "getting married", then behaving like an old bickering couple the rest of the show. gee, that's not something I've seen done on just about every other sitcom in the history of TV ever. But not one bit of it made me laugh.
and I wonder if they'll make Cam even more of an over the top stereotype now that they're actually married.
