Re: The Gaslight Anthem

I love TGA. I found them the same way I found DMB, and have seen them play live a few times, and they really are awesome. Springsteen holds them in high regard, and I think for good reason. Fallon knows what he wants to say with his songs and he does it so well in my opinion.

Also, Fallon is a massive Joe Strummer fan ( 'I'da called you Woody, Joe' and a Strummer tattoo) so he kinda goes up a little in my book anyway.

I'm glad to hear the new record won't have so many references to other songs. It's good in their old stuff, but I think Fallon realizes it'd get old if they kept doing it.

Not as powerful as anything on The 59'-Sound, but still good nonetheless.

I can't compare it to '59 yet just due to the limited amount of spins, but it is definitely great. Picked up right where they left off IMO

Yea its very much in the vain of The '59 Sound. Really good stuff. Diamond Church Street Choir, Queen of Lower Chelsea, and Old Haunt are tight as hell.

After giving this album a lot of listens lately, I have come to the conclusion that it is awesome. Another winner for Gaslight.

I love Old Haunts, but I actually think the title track is probably the worst song on the album. It's funny how different people's tastes in music can be. Again, to each his own.

i was lucky enough to see them at irving plaza and they were AMAZING. i have tix to the radio city show too. brian fallon really gets into it. and they're friends with the bouncing souls (another awesome jersey punk band).

senor and the queen is superb as well. odd enough, i don't have their first cd (yet)
