@JArrieta34: Despite the lose today, we grew as a team during this series. #WeAreReady @Cubs

@miggymont26: It's loss, not lose.... It's ok everybody makes mistakes

@JArrieta34: Grammatical corrections from Miggy. I reached an all-time low. I quit.

    Re: Chicago Cubs

Just because this guy buys into modern baseball, and was a part of it in Houston, doesn't automatically mean the Brewers will turn it around. However the NL Central is going to get tougher and tougher. The Reds are screwed until they embrace modern baseball. I'm just glad the Astros are out of the division.

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/13...gm-source-says

    Quote:
The Milwaukee Brewers have hired David Stearns, assistant general manager of the Houston Astros for the past three seasons, as their new general manager, a baseball source confirmed to ESPN.com on Sunday.

Stearns, 30, will replace Doug Melvin, who is transitioning to an advisory role with the Brewers after serving as the team's GM since 2002.

Stearns, a 2007 Harvard University graduate, worked for the commissioner's office from 2008 to 2011 and spent two years as director of baseball operations for the Cleveland Indians before joining the Astros as the top assistant to GM Jeff Luhnow.

His duties in Houston included player evaluations and contract negotiations, and he also helped oversee the Astros' scouting, player development and analytics departments.

Stearns, who is expected to be named to his new post Monday, will be the youngest general manager in baseball and is one year younger than Milwaukee's most high-profile player, outfielder Ryan Braun.
@Ken_Rosenthal: Yes, new #Brewers GM David Stearns is only 30. But Theo Epstein, Jon Daniels and Andrew Friedman all became GMs when they were 28.

Yesterday turned out to be a costly win for the Cards.

@BNightengale: Yadier Molina has slight tear in thumb and will be reevaluated in week to determine if he can return this season #stlcards

Cubs injuring the competition one player at a time. Of course injuries have no effect on the Cardinals but still that sucks.

Gotta get Soler back out there. I have a feeling though he will be confined to lefty starters the rest of the year.

I've come to terms with the fact we'll be playing in the WC game. Just requested off work October 8th so I can close the bars in Wrigleyville after we win.

Just realized it's on a Wed so I won't be at work that night.

I'm going to stay at home and be a wreck the entire time. During the Cards series this past weekend I was living and dying with every pitch. I never thought I'd get back to this point.

    Re: Chicago Cubs

I almost went to the game tonight, but went to the Saturday Cards game instead. Turns out either way I'd have liked my choice.

Lineup for Arrieta's (hopefully) 20th win:

    1. Fowler (CF)
    2. Schwarber (LF)
    3. Bryant (3B)
    4. Rizzo (1B)
    5. Castro (2B)
    6. Coghlan (RF)
    7. Montero (C)
    8. Baez (SS)
    9. Arrieta (P)

You are dead on. He is already the team's best player maybe. OK Rizzo is a better hitter (playing a less valuable position) and Arrieta is having a career year, but Bryant is right there. And that's with a 30% K-rate. So fun to watch.

    Re: Chicago Cubs

Kris might never get the strike out rate down much further but I am not sure we want him to. His strikeouts are partially a function of him not swinging at pitches that he doesn't want to. He will get even better going forward. Already going to have a 6+ win season this year. Next year I suspect 35-45 homeruns. And even more doubles.

I couldn't even find a line on this cubs game. It was a complete mismatch. I think we have won 9 or so straight vs them. THats what you have to do. Beat up on the teams that you are supposed to.

I like to think he was trolling the Brewers when he said this. He wasn't, but it's funny to think that that was his intent. Lol who the fuck is able to say that after a 3-hit CGSO? Stud.

Gotta say that you guys are a very enjoyable team to watch. It's too bad that you'll have to play in the 1 game playoff, but I guess without that change they wouldn't even get that chance in the past. Wishing Cubbie fans the best of luck
