My 3rd show when I was 16. Would love that for a live trax one day. I remember Carter was wearing a Carolina Hurricanes jersey after they won their first Stanley Cup.

June 2006 as a whole was a terrific run as far as sets go.

Can someone musical tell me what happened on Come on Come on in Jacksonville? It’s pretty funny, in the intro they just hit an AWFUL note. Whose fault was that? It’s just funny that musicians of this caliber still hit bad notes from time to time. But I love it, it means they’re human and they’re really playing! Just curious who hit the note.

    Just listened to this.

Measure five. It’s buddy in the keys.

I love it. Dave is too precise. They can make mistakes. Bring on variety.

I was on the lawn a couple too many drinks in when this happened and I wasn't sure if Dave was messing up thinking he was doing the first chorus again and then BOOM. Was amazing to be there for it.

A couple of weeks before the Raleigh show there was some Phish discussion on the boards and I asked what DMB's "Fluffhead" would be (speaking of when Phish opened with Fluffhead in Hampton in 2009)?

General consensus seemed to be there wasn't really an equivalent--maybe a Busted Stuff or something, but nothing was really going to capture the magnitude of that Fluffhead moment.

In retrospect, getting the third verse of Grey Street was probably as close as we could ever get in that moment. Definitely hadn't considered it at the time. It was something special to see.

I remember this discussion. It was a fun one, and I've actually thought about it a couple times since then.

I think there's a few things that DMB could do live that would make this site implode, here's a few:

    Too High live debut
    Monkey Man live debut
Blue Water with a full jam

And we're approaching territory of the Last Stop w/ full jam becoming something of legends. If they keep playing the truncated version for a couple more years, bringing back the jam/reprise will be "epic".

Interesting cover of Eh Hee with Antonio Sanchez on drums. Later this year he has an album coming out and Eh Hee is on it with Dave Matthews and Pat Metheney.

Several holy shit moments this band can do: full length full band Blue Water, People People with Peter Greisar. But most people in the moment probably wouldn't know who he is.

I think this site definitely and the hardcores in attendance would love it, but not sure about crowd reaction. When break for it debuted in 10, nobody seemed to have any idea what is was in the section I was seated and those were warehouse seats. If they were to bust out any of those or even something like trouble with you or early home it probably wouldn't get the reaction most on these boards think it would. Although maybe it would be different depending on the venue such as a gorge or spac.

yes but that guy has an amazing resemblance and has Cruise's mannerisms down 100% lol. And I don't like Tom Cruise a bit. Mostly because I consider Scientology to be a non-religion and a scam. But that is neither here nor there.

It wasn't a real person. Deep fakes are computer generated. I don't know exactly how it works, but I think you basically take an image or video of a famous person, type in a script, and artificial intelligence generates a video that's realistic.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deepfake

It's actually kind of scary if you think about it, these could be used for evil if people wanted to.

Fluffed is a classic Phish song. It's a big, 15-minute, fully-composed suite that wends its way through a bunch of different sections before a returning to the original theme in grand fashion. It was a staple of early Phish sets, and performed correctly, it's a huge moment. But as the years went on, it faded from Phish sets. And when it did appear, the performances tended to be sloppy, as the band was moving away from tight, precise compositions of their early years. So when they opened their reunion show in 09 with a well-played Fluffhead, it was sort of a statement that 'the old Phish is back.'

I would say playing a full-length Blue Water would be the closest thing DMB could have to a Fluffhead moment. A fantastic song from the early years that disappeared and has never returned in its full glory.

I can see why someone might say Monkey Man fits the bill, but that song was never played to begin with. So while playing it would be huge, it wouldn't make the same statement as a big Blue Water would.

Thanks for the explanation! I think a full Blue Water with a Tim solo would be a "Fluffhead" moment.

If they came on stage at DC, played a full Blue Water, and then left - I’d be happy. Would love a full version. Happy enough to get a partial at SPAC N2 ‘19
