Of course I remember that, though I had forgotten about the Manhattan. Best biscuits/gravy ever.

When I'm not visiting my asshole brother, we spend the day after Thanksgiving decorating for Christmas and avoiding the mall like the plague.

I avoid malls at all costs, especially on black Friday, might go on Friday night for a movie

We get our tree next Friday and will usually decorate it/the house on that Sunday.

NSM isn't that bad and any reason I'm there Friday is usually different then what most black friday shoppers are doing.

and usually it is just high school kids acting a fool

Baked my apple pie for tomorrow. Completely from scratch. Never done something so original in the kitchen. Took close to an hour of prepping and then another hour of baking. Hope it's good and the fam enjoys it tomorrow !

So how are people celebrating Thanksgiving this year? Obviously different than previous years.

We are having 2 Thanksgivings. Our first one will be on Wednesday with my parents and aunt outside. Our second one will be on Wednesday with my wife's mom, sister and her sister's bf outside.

Not much different for us this year, we usually do thanksgiving by ourselves and do the Xmas thing with family. Wake up, get the bird in the smoker, do some decorating, watch parades and football, eat and drink till we pass out.

We were planning to get together with my bro's family, and our mom but decided against it in the current situation. Just going to have immediate family only for this year until we get that sweet, sweet 'ccine.

We are going to my parents with my siblings are our spouses and kids. 12 people total. We normally have about 50. The 12 that will be there were at my parents this past Sunday and most Sundays since football. We've seen almost as much of each other as we normally do. This year is different in that its smaller but this group of 12 is much more preferable to the normal 50.

We are doing it tomorrow though because my sister leaves for the beach with her in laws on Thursday.

We were going to try to pull off an outdoor/garage Thanksgiving (weather would have been nice enough to pull it off, too).

But we cancelled that plan about two weeks ago. My wife's hospital has cancelled their elective surgeries and she's moved to covering the medical & COVID units full time again (normally, pre-COVID, she was primarily on Ortho). Given the exposure risk, and that a handful of her co-workers have recently come down with it, we decided we couldn't risk seeing my folks in such close proximity for that type of duration.

It's a bummer, but it's one year. I'd rather have dozens more thanksgivings together than risk the health of either of my folks - who are both high risk.
