Re: Oh Mistress Mine
Interesting odd connection here...might be off base but here goes. In the play it is a clown signing these words. Dave has referred to himself or a character as a clown. Most recently in Crazy Easy.... Odd but there certainly has to be a connection. Also Come Away and Oh Mistress Mine come from "Twelfth Night" and both parts are by the clown.
When I first saw your face, you young stuck kid
the clown that fell, oh, got up again
it's a, it's a beggar's ool, just another circus trick
Oh Mistress Mine
by William Shakespeare
The Clown, singing
O Mistress mine, where are you roaming?
O stay and hear! your true-love’s coming
That can sing both high and low;
Trip no further, pretty sweeting,
Journeys end in lovers’ meeting—
Every wise man’s son doth know.
What is love? ’tis not hereafter;
Present mirth hath present laughter;
What’s to come is still unsure:
In delay there lies no plenty,—
Then come kiss me, Sweet-and-twenty,
Youth’s a stuff will not endure.
