Very cool. I saw the LS at Wrigley a couple weeks after that version.

The version in the fall tour is available on the Encore Trax. I'll have to find a copy of it somewhere.

Just watched the version from last night. The full version is much better, but this was cool too.

I dont want Last Stop reprise/jam to go away forever like the 3rd verse of Grey Street. I think I'd rather Last Stop pop up rarely but in full than be in regular rotation with no jam.

I dont like this argument that its ok for LIoG and Two Step to be truncated so it’s ok for Last Stop to be chopped in half. 2 of those songs have been played in full with revolving jams in serious rotation for how many years and how many times have we seen them?

Last Stop can be truncated when its been in heavy rotation for 2 or 3 tours at 20 or so plays a tour. Not 9 times in the last 9 years? Or whatever the plays are. If that was the first time ever hearing the song, id be pissed

Its one of the toughest tunes for them to pull off, and takes rehearsal and a TON of mental focus for Dave and Carter, its just not something they're going to do anymore.

The reprise *used to be the best part of the song. But it's been pretty anemic for a while now. I'd rather have them nail the first half on a regular basis, then to periodically get what we've gotten in recent years.

All that being said, CP 2003 Bonus version reprise still gives chills.

I thought the reprise at Cville 2016 was awesome.

In any event, the truncated version is cool, and I hope they continue to play it in random spots throughout the set. Wish they’d do that with Two Step, Ants, Rapunzel, and others that are reserved mostly for the power slots these days. (Then again we’ll all complain when they play those mid-set but close with Shake Me, etc.)

I get it perfectly. I've been screaming it from the rooftops in numerous podcast episodes for YEARS.

This band no longer has the drive nor the current ability (mostly because of lack of drive) to nail the transition to the reprise, and that payoff is the entire point of the reprise. That explosion and then the smoldering, beautiful remains of it that follow. They haven't done it well in a long, long time. Hard to say it's really been done properly since 98 or 99. Whatever magic they had in a bottle back then has clearly left them with regards to this tune. Just listen to Live in Chicago - THAT's Last Stop.

As special as the song is, and as much as I would love to hear it at any show, it's been played with an asterisk in my mind pretty much since I started going to shows (2000). "This just doesn't sound right anymore."

What does everyone think about the crowd forcing the reprise? We’re likely too old a fanbase to pull this off but what if we all just continued with:

Definitely has sounded different and not as good, but I wouldn't say they cant nail the transition. They did the last time they played it at the Gorge last year. Pretty clean transition to my ears. Not a 98 or 00 Last Stop, but still damn good.

Eh? Seemed like they missed it to me @ Gorge '18. I'll have to give it another listen. They don't have that build up, pop like it did originally. They all just seem to approach it much more apprehensively, and as a result the crescendo/payoff doesn't happen.

I can't recall specific technical details of the Last Stop I heard in Atlanta in 2010, so I can't speak to how well it was performed compared to '98/'99, but I clearly remember just melting away to the last 6-7 minutes of it as it descended from the crescendo. It was one of the most otherworldly moments of seeing this band.

The mere thought of them cutting all that out is depressing as hell.

It actually hurts my spirit to see and hear this last stop cut. (On a side note and in concern of last stop’s in recent years, I thought last stop from 2016 at Spac particularly was absolutely awesome.)
