Re: The Head and the Heart

Yea, you can "claim" it as soon as you get the code; which is basically just selecting whether you want digital or hard copy and entering your info. Can't actually download it/won't get the hard copy till 9/9 though.

I'm surprised it hasn't leaked into the torrent world yet. Labels have put a pretty solid lid on that shit lately. I remember years ago when albums would show up on torrent sites weeks or even months before the release date.

Anyone enjoying this album? It took me a couple of listens, but I don't think it's as bad as I thought after my first listen.

    Loving it.

The production blows, but I think the songs are really good.

I've given it a few listens, and it's ok at best. Something to put on the background, but definitely not as good as their first two. Lyrically especially. Very surface level. It's crappy pop that's catchy. I don't hate it, just like I don't hate crappy pop. But I'm not purchasing it either. Spotify this one.

By far the worst of the three albums. Disappointing lack of Josiah and Charity. The weird plucking behind Josiah on Signs of Light is genuinely unpleasant to listen to. That would be my favorite song on the album if it weren't for that. Good for them for trying new things and going in a different direction, but not their best work.

Yeah, count me mixed on this as well. False Alarm is probably my favorite song. I could see this being the next single too.

Watched them on Colbert. It just seems like Josiah being gone leaves a major hole. He was one of the main things that drew me to the band when I saw them open for DMB in 2013.

Besides the production of this album, which sounds terrible, the songs are awesome. I really see these sounding completely different & better in a live setting. I Dont Mind may be one of the favorites they ever sang.

ive been listening to it constantly, and besides it sounding produced like DMBs standup, the actual songs & ideas themselves are great. Waiting for a spotify sessions or something.

I heard these at Red Rocks:

    All We Ever Knew
    City of Angels
    Rhythm and Blues
    Oh My Dear
    Library Magic
    Colors

They all sounded way better than they do on the album. I don't know what the fuck this producer did. Did he want them to sound like Coldplay or something?

Its literally mind blowing how a producer + the band could let this out sounding like that. Tyler sounds like a drum machine on half of them. I dont mind trying to sound a little different, but let the music do that, dont auto enhance everything afterwords.

Also do wish Charity was more upfront on more songs.

These will definitely sound more airy & refreshed once played live a couple times, so thats good to hear from your end.
