I dropped $45 on The Wall, first press; $40 on Born to Run first press; and $20 on Abbey Road original master recording. Other than that, I either inherited or paid real cheep for the others, which I doubt have much value.

I do need Aha. Anyone know the quality of the one's you can get on amazon right now? I'd prefer the 12" over the two 10" LPs

Gotta another question about vinyl players. I heard the pro-ject iii is a pain in the ass to switch from 33rpm to 45rpm. What is the next class of vinyl players once you get out of the pro-ject options and how much more are they?

I have a few I paid good money for. Btcs being the obvious one and I just spent 89.99 on yield which was actually a good deal as long as it is in the shape stated. But ya the majority are cheap buys. That is the best thing about this hobby.

Since I just started out not long ago, my list is fairly short:

    Beach House - Teen Dream
    Dodos - No Color
    Fruit Bats - Ruminant Band
    Jonsν - Go
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy (original press)

My want list has quite a few, and with my birthday coming up I'm hoping I can add some to the list above.

The easy way to switch between 33 rpm and 45 rpm on the Pro-ject Debut III is to get the Pro-ject Speed Box:

    http://store.acousticsounds.com/inde...title_id=13114

The next step up in turntables will be $500+ (and it quickly accelerates to $1000), but I'm not sure if those make it any easier to switch either. Some probably do.

Exactly. Some of the more major classics will require a prettier penny but it's worth it. This hobby truly is fun and it satisfies the music nerd in me.

Btw Ricky that site above that someone posted, once you input your entire catalog into it, it will show you it's value based on their last 5 sales of that record. Not the greatest but it works. I wasn't able to find 3 of my records to even put up there though.

Gotta another question about vinyl players. I heard the pro-ject iii is a pain in the ass to switch from 33rpm to 45rpm. What is the next class of vinyl players once you get out of the pro-ject options and how much more are they?
Honestly, it's a doddle to change speeds. Lift platter up, adjust belt, replace platter. If you're going to listen to 8 records and you go from 33 > 45 > 33 > 45, etc., you might consider it a pain, but honestly it's a 5 second procedure.

Anytime the turntable has built-in speed adjustment you have to consider that money went into that instead of into the tonearm, cartridge, platter, subplatter, etc.

An empty 6-btl wine cardboard container works pretty good too. They're usually nice and sturdy. Ask you local wine store for one. But the milk carton should also work nicely.
