I've listened to it twice now. I definitely enjoyed it more the second time but it hasn't really impressed me too much yet i guess.

It's more enjoyable than it is notable, really. Their three albums in the last five-six years are quite close in sound, and this just sounds like typical Shins, evolving their sound only a bit....

I think you need to hear some more music....those are some solid selections, but there's a hell of a lot out there.

no, i've heard alot of music. those are my faves that i've heard as far as whole albums go. I'm not saying that i've heard all music and those are the best, but those are the ones i enjoy the most. don't be condescending.

The James Gang - 15 Greatest Hits.

Solid from start to finish. You have to be in the mood for some "Classic Rock" though. Some great accoustic guitar too.

I listened to it all the way through several times now and I really like it. The only song that I really don't like is track 5 (I can't remember the name of it right now).

One of my favorite lines from the album. Also my favorite song from that album at the moment.

The Police - Ghost in the Machine. Nothing like Sprits in a Material World or Demoltion Man to get the day going.

Is it weird that The Hold Steady reminds me of Springsteen? I mean, he has nowhere near the voice of Springsteen (Really, nowhere near.), but both enjoy telling lyrically deep tales of youth wrapped in big rock guitar and piano.

Not weird at all. Most reviews I read about them compare them to Springsteen. Makes a lot more sense than The Killers/Springsteen comparison.

Got that right. Killers are ridiculous.

But no, I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the connection. I've really fallen into a Springsteen funk lately, though. New York City Serenade off of The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle is really incredible.
