Trusting my wife has nothing to do with statistics. It’s just a fact that a family that has a gun in the home is more at risk of something bad happening than one without. For that reason, I don’t own one. If we would be safer with one, I would absolutely own one. Unfortunately that’s just not what it is.
I completely understand that people feel safer with one. I get it. And I have nothing against anyone that feels that way. I have no desire to stop people from owning guns for protection or see legislation that would ban people from owning guns for protection. It’s a personal choice. And as counterintuitive as it may sound, owning that protection actually makes you less protected.
