Out of my element? I had no idea. Please enlighten me. I’m always up for learning new things. I’d love to read the study done which states how much safer I am with a gun. And I’d love to read the study that says if I’m a good driver I’m safer on the road than I am flying.

1 Unknown bad guys coem to do something bad.....At least you have a gun. I'm not saying you're going to be Ethan Hunt or Jason Bourne but as least having a gun is SOMETHING. A GLIMMER OF HOPE.

2 You own a gun and are killed by said gun. 99.99% of the time whoever killed you with your own gun knows you.

If you trust your wife to sleep next to you, then you should trust her with a gun. To say "I'm safer without a gun in my house" is to say I don't trust my wife.

The odds are probably better than you shoot yourself either on purpose or by accident instead of you being shot by an intruder.

I read that if you pull a gun on an intruder your likelihood of getting shot actually increases.

In reality you should probably secure you doors and windows first before buying a gun thinking you are safer.

My grandfather had a medical issue and the paramedics had to call the SWAT team and tell them to bust down the door.

Yes, absolutely. I own properties and, despite video surveialance, I always tell tennnants that their best defense is keeping gates closed/locked.

Trusting my wife has nothing to do with statistics. It’s just a fact that a family that has a gun in the home is more at risk of something bad happening than one without. For that reason, I don’t own one. If we would be safer with one, I would absolutely own one. Unfortunately that’s just not what it is.
I completely understand that people feel safer with one. I get it. And I have nothing against anyone that feels that way. I have no desire to stop people from owning guns for protection or see legislation that would ban people from owning guns for protection. It’s a personal choice. And as counterintuitive as it may sound, owning that protection actually makes you less protected.

No, I am talking about people not being able to kick your door in. Most burglaries happen when someone simply kicks open the door. When I was little I could put my arm through the mail slot of our front door and unlock it. I've climbed in windows while locked out. One time in high school my brothers buddy came by when we were sitting in the living room and he just lifted up the screen and climbed in the window before we knew what was happening.

Cool for my grandfather because he had a door that you needed the SWAT team to break down. Not cool because he was passed out. He couldn't answer the door because he was passed out and his health aid freaked out when he didn't answer the door.

That reminds me my neighbor down the street had the same thing happen. The home health aid was freaking out. The firefighters had to calm her down. The firefighters used a ladder to climb in the 2nd window I think. Maybe they were just checking to see if they could see her. I think they went in the 2nd floor window though.
