Rashawn did it again in Jimi Thing at Nats Park. I'm pretty sure this is "Walk the Dinosaur." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyef-BItce8

It's a bit different, but I think it's as close as I'm going to get.

Digging this thread up from the dead 11+ years later because I never have figured it out, and it's also on LT58 (Boyd plays it for quite a while underneath Roi's solo on Jimi Thing).

It's also on Green Day's "King for a Day." I think this is a REALLY common riff, along the lines of "Shave and a Haircut" or something.

EDIT TO ADD: I'm pretty sure it's *NOT* Walk the Dinosaur.

EDIT 2: Here's the Green Day song. Jump to 2:55. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9KJ-oJ_gU0&t=175

I wonder if it's related to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones? There was a version of Jimi Thing from September 2000, they did that interpolation over and over during the jam.

I think it would be pretty odd for Green Day to quote a Flecktones song (and I also am pretty well-versed in the Flecktones' catalog and don't recognize it from there). I haven't bothered to listen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's on all of the 2000 Jimi Things since we have one from June and one from September.

It’s also the same notes as I love rock and roll by Joan.

I hear it around 3:00 in that video, but from what I can tell, that song is from GTA: Vice City, so it seems like yet another place where that melody is interpolated rather than what it's an interpolation of.

So he was playing a part of a song from 2013 in 2007?

Also, it's totally Walk the Dinosaur from the clips shared over a decade ago.

Dunno. Was a guess. Taking a stab at something from 10 years ago can’t hurt lol

Are we certain it was written for the game?

Just backreading this thread is making my OCD spiral out of control.

I'm gonna need someone to figure out the song.

This has been killing me for a very long time. Ugh!

I know what it is. It's the main riff from the song Jeane Pierre off Miles Davis's 1982 album Big Fun.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ2d0BBClr8

Would make sense that Rashawn would be hip to this song & know how to play it as a trumpet player. He probably learned it as a teenager or in music school.

There it is. For some reason I remember that French lullaby it's based on, which is weird because no one in my family speaks French

Life is weird. I could’ve never picked this riff out before as dmb have playing it. I’ve listened to a lot of dmb and been to well over 100 shows. Today, randomly, I was watching/listening to spac 2019 while preparing a crock pot. This riff played during Jimi during that show.

OK, it's totally the Miles Davis riff. That's right up RR's alley, too.
