    Over the last 4 years, we've averaged 70.5 qualifying films per year. Through only 6 lists this year, we're already at 52. And there's no runaway favorite or really any trend at all.

    Matthew will be glad to hear that for the second year in a row, his #1 has qualified.

    And now through 8 lists, we're already up to 71 qualifiers (our record is 84 in 2013).

    There are 3 films that look like the primary frontrunners, but I'm expecting anywhere between 6-10 more lists so it's still a wide open race at this point.

    so Clay would MOLLY'S GAME count for 2018? It had some festival-only things in late fall 2017, and a "limited" thing on Christmas, but then still on the IMDB page it has a USA listing as January 5.

    Nope. It actually qualified last year, and I personally remember watching it in theaters before January 1.

    Through 13 lists, we've tied our record of 84 eligible films. It took 25 lists to get to that point in 2013, though.

    I won't do any of the math until voting is closed, but the raw numbers show a pretty clearcut top 5.
