Well, when you put it that way...

What I mean is MJ was abused and emotionally stunted. I've seen him described as a man-child. What he did was heinous, but I don't think it was in a "to catch a predator" way where he knew he was fucking these kids up. I honestly believe, at least initially, that he felt a real connection and was exploring that.

I'm not excusing any of it. I just don't think it was a typical dirty old man purposely fucking up a kid's life.

That should have been a wake-up call not only for MJ but for those around him.
This is something I've been wondering about. How did no one else get implicated into all the charges? Surely, one of the maids or someone saw them or saw the stains on the sheets. If that one guy was honest in how much sex just the two of them were having, and he was likely doing it with other kids when he wasn't there, someone would've had to seen/noticed something. I just can't help but feel his staff didn't not see anything.

Watched a little more last night. I thought it was just the 2 boys. Holy hell, there were a lot of them and I forgot about the Macaulay Culkin connection. If he was there as much as it seems, no way he wasn't a victim in this as well. I can't believe how many adults it took to allow this to go on, both employees and parents.

Culkin has always defended Jackson, but honestly, there my not have been anything nearious between them as Culkin was famous, different from those others that were not.

    Same with Feldman.

I dont think he ever pulled this with Culkin or Feldman because they were famous and he kind of used them as shields in a way.

Is pt 2 worth the watch? Is it as graphic as pt 1?

It was well established how much he enjoyed spending time with the boys and having "sleepovers." I'm not sure what you would expect to find as far as evidence. I don't know about you but if I'm being careful, it's pretty easy to keep the juice off the sheets, if you get the drift.

Should also say that in the 2005 trial, the prosecution did call a few staff members of Neverland to testify and they did report seeing some inappropriate things. However, MJ's defense nailed them on their credibility because all of them sold their stories to the tabloids.

I think you need to watch it to get the full story. It is as graphic, yes.

Ehhhhh, yes and no. We're removed from the graphic sexual encounter stories and introduced to how the victims (and families) are coping with life after. For some, the latter might be more difficult to watch.

Also, I won't be surprised if another documentary comes from this based around the other two abuse victims that came forward while Jackson was still alive.

Maybe someone with more knowledge of law can answer this - how did Wade Robson not get into any sort of legal trouble for committing perjury when he testified for Jackson in court?

I'm not sure how anyone could find James's story not believable.

    Re: Michael Jackson Appreciation Thread

    So much to unpack.

Ill start with this. Ive never heard of a person saying that as a child they were completely distraught that they had stopped getting abused by an adult.

I think this es extremely telling, goes to how deeply Jackson seduced these boys, and why they lied in the trials.

I believe Wade, but without James I'm not sure if I would have to be completely frank.

What made me believe Wade was the actual paper trail of communication via the faxes from MJ. Clearly there's something seriously wrong with a grown ass man communicating that much with a child. I know that's not proof of abuse, but it shows there was an infatuation for sure. So I believe his word.

I forgot about the faxes Jackson was sending calling James "Little one".

I watched part of an interview with the surviving Jackson brothers and they all (obviously) denied the abuse claims stating "He (Michael) would never do something like that; the boys are just out for money."

Not necessarily. I believe both but to a doubter, someone who supports MJ, the pain that is visible on James is just so evident. There is just no way he is making it up.

    Yea, exactly.

Not to mention, I don't know much about Wade's career at this point, but seems like he did very well for himself, and in a town like Hollywood, you never know if something like this could help or hurt you. You don't know who the Jackson's have on their side, etc.

Took way more courage than not to do this doc.

It had to be some of the psychological abuse that he grew up with that made him refuse to grow up.

A lot of the retelling made it sound like two young kids who don't know what they're doing is inappropriate. Again, in no way does that excuse what he did. I think ultimately, he knew what he was doing was wrong but I think so much of it was a result of his deep psychological issues.
It seemed like extreme grooming to me. Parents and the boys.

These parents are so terrrible. It should be pretty alarming when a grown ass man wants to spend the night with kids.
