I remember picking up an album by Machine Head back when I was obsessed with metal bands that began with an M: Metallica, Megadeth, Motorhead, Moonspell, etc...

It was the album that had the song "real eyes realize real lies". I wasn't very into that album, but I feel I need to give them another chance now that's it's been so long since I listened to them.

Eh, I'm not too keen on attending concerts alone. That and it's a two hour drive. It's also tomorrow

I never understood this. There is this social stigma for going to concerts or movies by yourself, and it's like... who truly gives a fuck that matters? No one, that's who, and you end up missing out on a good time.

This I'll give 100% credence too, though Never stopped me before (and I don't drive), but I understand why it would stop someone else.

I'm not afraid to go to these things by myself; I prefer to go to most movies alone. With a concert however, I tend to enjoy the atmosphere more being with someone I know so we can rock out together. At this particular venue, I'd stand towards the back and watch. Even though I'm there for the music, it's nice to spend the downtime shooting the shit.

Metal Evolution was on last night on MTV Live... I know I've seen bits and pieces in the past but it's absolutely fantastic.

    That's awesome.

I never really got into Motley Crue as much as other bands but I am looking forward to the Netflix video, too.

I loved the book. I couldn't put it down. So much debauchery. The movie looks like it could be good. I'm definitely excited to see it.

I noticed on Instagram it looked like the band was back in the studio together too. I thought they had some kind of legal agreement that the Crue was no more once the farewell tour ended?

the legal agreement was that they could never tour again, they fully intend on making new music though! They made new music for the movie also

It might even allow them to do one-off shows too, not sure about that part

Love Motley Crue… my favorite band when I was a younger lad. I'm stoked about the movie... I had pretty low expectations, but it looks fantastic.

They did release a snippet of one of the new songs they recorded:

    https://twitter.com/MotleyCrue/statu...30153389797376

Lyrics are cringe city... but the music is great and goddamn do I love Mick Mars!!!

    Also, your mom kicks ass!!!

Oh... I might as well put in here also - for the prog metalheads... the new Dream Theater album was released today and it is fantastic. They brought back the heaviness!

His voice is very heavily 'enhanced'... especially in this new song.

I went to one of the final tour shows as well... unfortunately, it was one that Tommy was not playing b/c he was hurt. He did come out for Home Sweet Home though.

They do indeed. They've only had 1 subpar album as far as I'm concerned... the one they released 3 years ago.

that's depressing. So he did the drum rollercoaster though? that shit was epic. Did they have someone replace him for the rest? ( i hope)

The Alice Cooper drummer filled in for him... he did a good job but it was no Tommy.

I've seen them several times with Tommy though so I wasn't too disappointed. I was actually a little nervous about this show b/c the show I had seen a few years before was so incredibly loud!!! I've never heard anything that loud in my life... an absolute tsunami of sound. It was like they took a setup for a 150k stadium and put it in a small indoor arena. They brought the levels way down for the final tour though. Sounded great.

yikes! where did you see them for the final? I saw them in Worcester. We were literally in the top row but the venue is so vertical that the view was pretty good and I think it sounded decent

Manchester NH... we were in the lower section on Nikki's side. He was right above us at one point. Their stage setup was awesome... always was but they really outdid themselves on that tour. So good that Kiss stole it.

I can fully see them coming out with a blow torch and lighting that on fire then announcing tour dates. Seems like a very Crue thing to do.

Yeah Vince is rough now. I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that he basically only uses backing vocals now. Reading the Dirt it sounds like he's the only one in the group who's still a really big mess party-wise. He looked even fatter than I remember in that twitter video.

To be fair, when I saw Motley Crue in 1987 Vince didn't sound good then either.

And to add to that fairness... there aren't very many of those guys from that era that sound good live. As I think about it, for those I've seen... Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) and Jeff Keith (Tesla) are the only ones that I was blown away by.

It's bad... I mean, I didn't have high hopes and it's worse than I thought it would be. It sounds like what a Motley Crue cover band would sound like if they were covering a Madonna song.
