Re: What (besides politics) irritates you?

I just try to use glass tupperware as much as I can. But there are times that i think plastic wrap will be easier. It never is.

We use tupperware or glassware for everything now. Anything greasy or tomato based goes in glass all day. Or anything that has a scent that can permeate into plastic.

A lot of other meals easily go into large plastic tupperware.

A plugs have a torque spec. That's the problem with hand tightening. Neither of you are doing it right.

I never use anything but a container if it's something that's staying in our house. But, I'll use press and seal when I'm covering dishes / platters I'm taking somewhere.

(I mean, I prefer containers as well, but sometimes you need to cover a dish).
    This is the correct answer.

Right, but as someone with not a ton of working knowledge about auto mechanics and who does driveway oil changes/other very minor repairs, I'd rather have it hand tightened (essentially "good enough") than overtightened to the point where you can't get the thing off without professional assistance or more extraordinary measures.

    Just my $0.02.

Take your two cents and add a few bucks and get one of these. Not expensive and not hard to use

I'm the same way, but it's good to have for those kinds of basic things I would do myself like brake pads. So many bolts that all have different specs.

Yeah, that's what I use. Sorry for any confusion but I didn't mean hand-tightening with a regular old wrench

Ditto. I won't let the cancer from the heated plastic fumes kill me.

I'll just die from the fumes in the air I breathe.

When I said tupperware, I meant glassware. I use it all the time.

The reason this irritant came about was because my wife made a pie and make whipped cream seperately. She placed the the whipped cream in a bowl. Instead of moving the whipped cream from the bowl to glassware, i decided to just put plastic wrap over the bowl. Big fucking mistake.

Re: What (besides politics) irritates you?

My major first world problem irritants this week:

On Monday, I was off with the kids. Came home from our day out (which was supposed to be a trip to the zoo until a power outage shut them down for the day, which was also irritating) and found the cleaning people locked our bottom door knob that we don't have a key for (they turned the lock on the inside and then shut the door). We only use our numeric keypad (you know, the one they used to get access into our house) - I don't have a key to any doors. My husband was in Charleston, though I don't think he has a key, either (I know. Even if we don't use them, we should still have keys to our locks). Had to call a locksmith.
Super efficient guy. Two minutes of his time. $163 later.

After we finally got inside, my phone froze up on me. I couldn't get it to do anything, including a hard reset. It started calling people, too - but I wasn't even touching my phone. Had to go back out to the car, hook it back up to Apple Carplay and it finally unfroze.

Then, went back inside and discovered my 11 year old lab went to the bathroom inside (upstairs - I had already taken the dogs out as soon as we got back in the house; she did this earlier in the day when we were out).
It was hard as a rock, so not like she was sick.

And, then today, I went and had my nails done at lunch.
I hate them. The guy was new and did such a bad job. I'm quite certain I'll have all the color peeled off by the end of the weekend, assuming I make it through today. They look so bad.

Not trying to one-up you, but OUR DOG once locked the deadbolt while we were out

Door to the garage which we never lock, just close the garage doors, and the dog would occasionally jump at the door when we left her. We came home from errands one time last year and it was locked. Took a while to figure out how it'd happened. We too never kept any of the door keys on us (although wiat, a few days later we would learn that there was a key in the door pocket of my wife's car).

I tried all the windows on the first floor before deciding which window pane I was gonna break. Then I decided to try a second floor window that I remembered had trouble with its lock catching. It was above our pergola, so I had to climb up onto that, then onto a storage bin to get in the window. I looked ridiculous.

Only having access to a single entry point of your house seems like an odd setup to me.

Is that how most of y'all have it?

There are two other doors. Both were also locked (they always stay locked). I didn't have a key to any of the 3.
I know I should have a key to at least one, I've just gotten used to just using the keypad that I don't know where any keys even are (obviously).

I don't carry a key to my house either. I have the garage door programmed into my car's homelink thingy, and it also has a keypad in case that were to go down.

if the power went out, guess i'm fucked

I also do not carry any keys, but I have a keypad on the front door, the back door, and the garage (plus garage opener).

I have keys for all my entrances (2 of them use the same key), for that exact reason.

Normally we just come in through the garage door but there have been instances like power outages where I have to go through the back. I'd rather have the key, and rarely/never need it, than need it and not have it.

I should have learned my lesson a few months ago.
The battery was dying on our keypad. All the other doors were locked. Had a call in to a locksmith, but the keypad managed to get enough power to unlock the door so I was able to cancel the locksmith.

Should have taken care of getting a backup key then, but obviously I hadn't.

We need new keys cut for the manual doors as a backup.

Even cheaper; my husband realized when he got back yesterday that the window to his office wasn't locked, so we could have climbed in there (and by we, I mean the 10 year old).

Woke up to the stench of a skunk. Looked out the window to see the poor varmint flopping around my driveway (likely had rabies or distemper or both). After calling a few animal control places we were able to get in touch with Fish and Game. Dude came out and took care of it but even on this windy day... it still fucking stinks around here

Man, pizza has gotten crazy expensive. I'm super lazy tonight so ordered a pizza for the fist time in years. 1 14" pizza + 1 sandwich = $45.

It was from a local chain pizzeria, too

I was ordering pizza by myself a couple weeks ago which I haven't done in forever and yeah I was agonizing over how much one would cost, kept switching between different places and apps before settling on one

For some reason when my wife and I both order a pizza or two and a salad it doesn't bother me but looking at the price just to feed myself it seemed high.
