Anecdotal, of course, but I work in a restaurant that currently employs 15 people. 6 people make $15hr. 2 people make $12.50hr. The rest make $10hr. $10hr is the minimum we pay, from day 1 of employment. We are doing just fine. The notion that we'd have to shutter if we had to pay higher than the current minimum wage of $7.25 is obviously, and laughably, false.
Oh, and everyone but the owner gets tips too, so he could pay us all less and hit those numbers, but he doesn't.
We're a single franchise in a small regional chain and while we pay better than any other franchise in the group, we also perform the best in terms of sales and profit.
