Re: Here On Out

Maybe I'm crazy, but I cannot count 4/4 in the verse. It's definitely 3/4 in the bridge... But not in the chorus.... The chorus is 4/4 with maybe a couple of 3/4 measures tossed it.

Here's proof it's not in 4/4: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ch5dCu_UUAAGU32.jpg

How are you counting 4/4 in this???

Very pretty tune and very earnest. So many of the songs on this album really feel like they are about Ashley specifically and their current relationship.

    Re: Here On Out

Really didn't like this song on first listen...thought the lyrics were corny. Dave, you're 51, married how many years? You're just getting around to calling your mate 'mine?' Well, he did a HOO solo mid-set during SPAC N2 and I just thought that was cool as shit (wish he would be more creative with the set like that). Did a nice job on guitar (and go figure, you could actually hear his guitar). Anyway, I've been listening to it a lot lately and putting the lyrics aside, it really is a beautiful song....will be heard at many weddings...as it should.

I'm hoping he starts playing it as an E1 more often and we hear it that way during a fall/winter tour, assuming the rumors play out.

Two. It then has the ‘oo’ as in ‘boo’ vowel sound [u]. Two. And if you’ll notice, the lips begin to take that position even – tt – before the T sound. Two, two. And this is pronounced the exact same way as the word too, T-O-O, as in, ‘I want to go too’. Or, to, T-O, as in, ‘He is going to the store’, although to be honest, that word is often reduced to: t’. He is going t’ the store.

Three. This begins with the unvoiced TH sound [θ]: th. Make sure your tongue comes through those teeth, it’s the only way to make that sound. Th, th, thr-. It then pulls back into the R position. So your tongue will move from being through the teeth to being further up and back. Thr-. Then the ‘ee’ as in ‘she’ vowel sound. Three, three.

Four begins with the F sound, so the bottom lip must move up to the top teeth. Four. It then opens into the ‘oh’ as in ‘no’ diphthong, four, before moving into the R consonant sound. Four, four.

It was probably better not to acknowledge this at all, but this was a real shitty thing to post. No need for the passive aggression, homie.

I know this post is old, but you're right it is a peculiar measure and it's made moreso peculiar by trying to count in 4/4 time. If you count in 8/8 time it makes more sense and you will have 12 bars of 8/8 through the verse then one pre-chorus measure.

This has definitely grown on me. I heard it live 3 times this summer and loved it every time. Listen to the album version constantly.

Also agree with above posters - This is one of the best solo songs since Some Devil.
