Re: New York Yankees

Might as well. Best team.

Heyman picks Arod as MVP and CC as Cy Young.

Lock it up.

    It wasn't a joke.

Lack of options that year, sports writers wanted to look progressive.

morneau and k-rod were the other two candidates. pedroia put up a great year after winning ROTY. not your typical MVP type numbers but he put up great numbers from the 2-hole

    '06, Morneau won it.

Same scenario as '08, only that year the writers decided to be, again, progressive.

right about what? that you're more qualified to pick the MVP than the BBWAA? i think they've done a fine job at picking mvp over the years

I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy and the fact that they chose, in 2008, to come off as progressive with Pedroia over Morneau.

Generally speaking, yes, they make the right choice.

In spite of my bias, and based on the precident set in '06, they made the wrong choice in '08.

just saying that pedroia isnt a prototypical MVP - Jeter had a bunch of years like the one he had and could have won during that time. Whether it was the BBWAA taking a progressive approach or worse competition I don't know...just saying if Pedroia won Jeter is more than capable of winning

that's where we disagree. Jeter had some amazing years in the 90's and even in the 2000's. i assume that some of those seasons he was in the shadows of players taking Performance enhancing drugs which sucks for jeter, but that's just the era he was playing in. i dont see jeter coming close to what he used to be and i dont see him coming close to top 10 in MVP, but that's not saying he wont be a solid player.

I can agree to disagree on that. Maybe some of my confidence in him is that he is my favorite player in any sport ever and I'm not ready to give up on him yet.
