Re: Was Alpine N1 Average for Current DMB?

like I said, I'm convinced people have fallen in love with seeing those letters on the almanac I'll take Two Step > Ants and DDTW > Seek Up every time over hearing some obscure song liberation like Beach Ball that 15 people care about in the audience.

For 2019, sure it’s above average. And that in itself is saying how much this band has tanked in the last 6 years.

How many times can you folks pay to hear grey st, dont drink and ants marching?? I just don’t get it. 20+ times each was enough for me in one lifetime. Greatest hits singles stopped getting me excited at shows long, long ago
im starting to think an entire show of liberations are the only way you will go home happy.

Last night was fantastic on all accounts. And im far from a ballwasher.

Anyone who thinks last night isn’t a great 2019 DMB setlist needs to find a new band because that’s about as good as we’re gonna see with how big the catalog is now.

I‘m not sure I’m ready to go that far, but with as many good to great songs and so few meh to bad songs it’s hard to truly argue against it.

Sure, the show lacked some of the more rare great songs or any bustouts, but that’s not the only factor in what makes a show great.

I interpreted last nights version of Can’t Stop as his relationship with the crowd. It has some fire and was angry. I also picked up on the emphasis during Nancies...I’ll play for you tonight, the thrill of it all.....

I might have been high or existential or whatever but I really thought last night was a direct shot at fans that think they can’t do that anymore.

Yeah, but Beach Ball is a good song. Top 10 in the past decade.

There is nothing wrong with Beach Ball at all, I like it a lot....It's just a forgettable live song that no one really cares about. I'd rather hear DDTW for the 22nd time with everyone at the concert going nuts, than Beach Ball for the first time.

Liberations are awesome when they're awesome songs. For every great song on that list, there is one that is terrible. I just want to hear great songs, It's not really that hard.

I agree with this until you said Beach Ball. That is the best song from the Big Whiskey sessions and one that I would love to see live.

I picked a random song to make a point. Angel, Mother Father, People People, Spotlight, Road, Blackjack, Everybody Wake Up, Eh Hee, Gaucho...turd after turd on that list The fuss over liberations never made sense to me. There are maybe 10 songs that I think should be liberated. Just play good songs...which is what they did last night.

I love People People, completely agree about preferring to continue seeing great songs as opposed to rare just for the sake of being rare though

Few people are clamoring for any of those songs just for the sake of a liberation.

Those are songs that need to not be on that list. Like you said, about 10. And I don't want them just because they would be liberations. I want them because they are great songs. It's stupid that they're sitting on the shelf in the first place.

That said, I'd much rather catch an Angel liberation over my 11th Can't Stop. Over my 56th Grey Street? Nope.

    N1 was a solid show...albeit nothing special.

Toysoldier still can't wrap his narrow mind around people not fawning over what he likes

I totally agree. I would say that tonight was 2019 average. A very strong finish, but not enough to say anything more than average

Re: Was Alpine N1 Average for Current DMB?

I loved night 1 back at Alpine! From the first song it was clear Dave came to play unlike the lackluster performances at Summerfest. Yes, repeated songs, but songs we all love and adore with their own little subtle changes. It’s about how his music makes us feel as he plays each song!

Oh wow, too bad i “have no credibility” with the fucking Dave Bro community

I’ll take that as a complement. God, how the fuck i ever enjoyed this fucking band or this crowd is baffling to me. What the fuck was i doing? This music sucks ass and you people paying for it- and lying to yourselves that it’s good or “improving since des moines” or whatever other horse shit- are just pure lazy sunday morning entertainment for me.

Yeah, i checked the Alpine setlist. First Alpine weekend i totally skipped since before 2007. Once you all realize that Dave Matthews is an asshole who can’t sing for shit, you’ll get it. Grow the fuck up. You’re not in college in the 90’s anymore, BRO
