Super excited for the full band version of this. With the core of the song this strong, that's usually a good sign. I can picture Jeff filling in perfectly around Dave in the chorus too.

Last years did not come out for like 6 weeks or so after. We might get some announcements in March. It might time with the launch of the tour or something .

The entire song full band is going to be falsetto sung by Buddy, with the melody played by solo Rashawn. Dave will sing some backup and quietly strum an electric guitar.

I'd be up for that. Musical adventurousness usually gets my vote.

Joke's on you, that's exactly what I want for it.

Yup, has a lot of potential. I just hope the studio version isn't a rocking wall of sound and has some depth and breathing room to it. Although it's a simple song in terms of guitar work, the D+T version has me singing along. Excited to hear the full version.

Love how it flows overall, love the rhythm of the "nothing for a nickel" line, love won't let you go, it all just flows really well to me

Agreed. That's the best thing to me. Almost all of 3.0/4.0 songs have at least 1-2 sections that seem forced or shoehorned in that don't fit. This one flows the whole way through, nothing sounds overly wordy or out of place. It sounds complete.

Rooftop, BBN, Dive In, Alligator Pie, The Riff, Drunken Soldier, Gaucho, Can't Stop..just a few examples. They all have a bridge/alternate section that sounds completely different and totally out of place and imo doesn't need to be there. Sounds like they just inserted a filler section because "all songs need a bridge right?" For example, the entire "free the beast" part in Can't Stop could have been totally cut out of the song and it would not only have been better, but no one would have missed it. I feel that way about pretty much every DMB songs since BW. (With a few exceptions)

A unique bridge section that is different is kind of what makes DMB great...

I definitely agree with this, but I think the other songs you listed work fine, except for Alligator Pie, which is actually what immediately came to mind when I first read your post. AP isn't a bad song or anything, but I do get what you mean with that.

The bridge is the best part of Alligator Pie and one of the best parts of BWGK.

Man the first time I heard BBN I thought it was perfect. I still think it’s perfect. Never forget how shocked I was at the Jeff solo placement. Then how showed I was with the Boyd solo immediately following Jeff’s. That’s what makes dmb great.

That song would’ve been a beast live if Boyd was capable of playing in tune. It was depressing seeing him playing while muted on that one.

I still love BBN - great tune and use of the various band members filling in different parts makes for a compact, unique pop-ish song

Belly Belly Nice is awesome. Just a DMB tune through and through, and one of the few songs on AFTW where Dave really attacked the melody. Stefan and Tim rule the last chorus too. Stefan just comes bulldozing as it begins and Tim plays a new fill transitioning between each chorus line and it's awesome.

I don't care about the lyrics before anyone asks.

I remember like 10 years nailing this job interview and jamming out to BBN while driving home and this girl in the car next to me looking at me while also jamming out to something, but I couldn't figure out if it was sincere or if she was mocking me

BBN is like an Ants Marching-y version of Rapunzel, which is the highest of compliments. I wish I could point to a live version they’ve really nailed, but alas- might have to wait for Ann Marie’s next guest spot. Love love the studio cut so much.

Genuinely think the live debut is still the best performance.

Just heard that they will debut Friday at 8PM. They used Monsters as part of the promo.

Sadly for most songs. It seems the band continues to tinker with songs and they lose their original appeal. I'd argue that this is why we get lackluster studio albums. They never seem satisfied until they've almost completely changed a song or they shelve it.

Yeah that definitely happens. With BBN though, nothing changed about the song. The first performance just sounded great, the violin was audible, etc.
