I don't see summer shows being cancelled yet. They will hold off as long as possible. Hopefully this thing is over or trending down by that point.

Keep an eye on Coachella. It is 4 1/2 weeks away. If that falls, expect a domino effect, continuing with Jazz Fest, Bottlerock, Glastonbury, etc. If that occurs, then the DMB Summer Tour is probably toast.

We will probably know more prior to that. DMB have April tour in Australia that includes Byron Bay Bluesfest. Bluesfest organizers say it’s still a go but the situation is so “fluid “ so that “go” could easily change to a “no-go” tomorrow.

Yeah Coachella wont have much bearing on actual summer tours. Youre talking about something in a month vs stuff 3-4 months from now.

Pearl Jam just announced two new festivals today. Ohana Festival in California and Sea Hear Now Festival in New Jersey. Both in September.

Plus it’s a music festival vs a single concert. Big difference. You got the NCAAT still going on in a few weeks, that more comparable to a DMB concert then a music festival.

We wont know anything about DMB or any summer tour until a week or so before they start. There is no reason to cancel this far out. The only way we here earlier is if there are some timeframe for cancellation in show contracts with venues.

Or it will be late April and it has died down to the point of it not even being a concern

I Googled Red Light Management and Coronavirus to see if there was anything that would provide insights into how they are dealing with/or intend to deal with this. What I found was a Billboard article that focused mainly on merch issues. Is it only about the money????

I know people don't like the flu comparison, but this is playing out similar to the 2009 swine flu pandemic. From cancelled concerts to closed schools--it's definitely going to happen.

In 42 days from the first confirmed case of swine flu in 2009, there were 2,254 confirmed cases in the US.
Compared to 624 confirmed Coronavirus cases in 48 days. It's important to note that many of these confirmed cases in the US are people that have (hopefully) already been under self-quarantine and awaiting testing/results.

While I don't know what the hell is going on with Italy and Iran, it's good to see South Korea's daily cases dwindling. Also important to note that something like 3,000 of South Korea's cases stem from that one (ironically) cult-like church.

Right, my point was there is no reason to cancel events that are months away. Too much money to lose as a precaution. If any shows get cance6 or postponed itll be a couple days in advance not months.

They've declared a state of emergency in Coachella valley/ Riverside County and just cancelled this large tennis meet there. I wouldn't be surprised if Coachella is next

If Coachella ends up being cancelled then I would look at the Australia dates. And 42 km brings up a good point the situation is fluid so it may move from "go" to "no go". Sure there has to be a cut off point somewhere because I would think people and equipment has to be in place.

Interesting to see the response from corporate offices, etc. especially considering the liability they care about, not the employees.

I work at a company with 80,000+ people and we're mandatory WFH until further notice, globally.

We've got 11K, we've discussed the possibility of it becoming a thing but no action taken besides banning international travel and non-essential domestic.

Re: Coronavirus and the 2020 DMB Summer Tour

I suspect that because of issues relating to terms of insurance coverage event organizers seek a declaration of a public health emergency or similar type of announcement before announcing any show cancellation (ie it may be a show by show cancellation based on the specific circumstances of the locale in question as opposed to an entire tour cancellation announcement). This appears to have been the case in the cancellation of the Indian Wells tennis tournament yesterday which as I understand it immediately followed a Declaration of a State of Public Health Emergency for the Coachella Valley (yes same place as the music festival which has not, yet, been cancelled).

Same sort of applies to my airline reservations which I am holding for DMB Summer Tour shows. If a travel advisory is declared by my government (Canada) prior to my scheduled departure for the destination I am flying to I will be entitled to a full air ticket refund. Time will tell.

The CDC has just stopped short of telling us COVID-19 has broken quarantine in the states. The only states reporting no COVID-19 cases at this moment are: Idaho, Montana, the Dakotas, Maine, Wyoming, Michigan, West Virginia, Ohio, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and New Mexico.
