Re: Lawncare/Landscape Thread

Torrential rain this afternoon. Had some seed sprouting prior to the rain but I am afraid that the remaining seed got washed away.

Just ordered some starter fert, and some organic fert for the weekend. Need to go to Ace to pick up grass seed (Jonathan Green Black Beauty).

9 days out and seeing some germination but not as much as I had hoped. Maybe I need to be more patient. I think I went through this same thing last year.

    Never heard of them.

Getting older sucks. I'm sore, and my back hurts from all of the yard work yesterday.

Sprinkler system was winterized yesterday. Last fall fertilizing will be happening perhaps this weekend or so. September and early October have been amazing for the lawn with the cooler temps and more rain after the absolute torture that happened during this summer's drought. Probably just a couple more mowings left in the season.

Waiting 10 days to mow with after throwing down a shit-ton of fert and steady mild temperatures was not a good idea.

Felt like this would get more love in this thread. My one week firepit transformation is now complete! Couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. All materials were about $700 total. And about four decent days of work plus a few nights after work. Can’t wait for the first fire tonight!

    Looks good Stenger!

I'm loving my pellet-burning "faux-lo stove" firepit I bought for up on the deck. Had a problem with a firepit mat from Amazon that melted a little bit onto my Trex deck, so now I have it sitting on a 12"x12" paver. But I love it every time I use it; easiest thing to light once and not have to mess with again for about an hour's worth of fire. Or one night last week with my buddy over, we watched most of the first NLCS game while I kept feeding it. Was lovely.

So my bigger backyard firepit project will be a bit on the backburner because we just wouldn't use it as much.

Got my A&O done last week and following their watering schedule to a T this year, even got a new sprinkler timer that allows me to customize it just a little bit more than the basic Orbit one I got last year.
