Why I am is a cool opener. It’s fun when it’s in the middle of a good run. It’s not a difference maker in the middle of a bad run. And it’s a bad closer

Didn't get a chance to hear the Two Step last night. Was it similar to the Folsom Field version? No Tim/Butch solo, but still the powerful outro?

Long as it's the song proper + the outro, no need for the 15-20 minute versions.

Just the vibe I got watching Dave during the songs & after, I don't think we'll be seeing much of Shotgun & Dreaming Tree this summer. I hope like hell I'm wrong, but his body language and words were telling.

I mean, deduce how you want, but after Dreaming Tree the other night he said “It’s nice to run into a stranger every now and then”. I took it as a kinda way of acknowledging a one-off and not a vote of confidence.

why I am a great encore closer IMO because kill the preacher gives you a great opportunity to beat the crowds to the lots. I like why i am but not waiting around for it.

I'd take a Space Between + Why I Am in the encore over a lot of the encores they had last summer.

While true, and I would do the same, it isn't long enough to really make that big of a difference at most venues

Listening to Jimi from last night - that outro sounds tight and really good. Much better than the cover crap. Thought they were going to go into I Want to Take You Higher for a second from what it sounded like (which is albeit the best cover they’ve done with Jimi)

Dave gives a little troll at the end: “we just gonna play that last song again, and again, and again”

Just listened to Two Step from last night, I’m glad they found a way to finish the song without wearing Carter out too much. I’ll gladly give up the guitar and drum solos for that outro. It’s quite literally the best thing this band does.

The only way it would be sorta satisfying is the tail end of a 3 songs encore where the middle one has a little bit of length/jam/solo to it. IE:

I'll Back You Up or Space Between
PNP>Rapunzel or Best of What's Around
Why I Am

Something in that wheelhouse isn't so bad. Sure, "why not Rapunzel after WIA"...but this isn't not the scenario where we have Dave writing it like that.

I know I’m in the minority, but I consider Why I Am to be a staple song at this point. I’ll take it at any show and I actually don’t mind it closing. But songs are all relative- if the show was filled with Can’t Stop, Jimi, Cornbread, Louisiana Bayou, etc, then yeah Why I Am doesn’t feel like the best closer. But in a solid show, that’s totally fine with me.

I do agree with the person that said So Right should be closing out shows. That would be VERY welcomed.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I enjoyed both encores I saw last year in Raleigh and Charlotte, and both closed with a BW song, but they were accompanied with two other songs.

First show since 19. That show was pretty sweet. Seek Up opener is one of best things they do. It was really cool to see Two Step as well. Two step isn’t played that much any more. My last non acoustic Two Step was 2012. felt like it would go into ants, but it was the full thing. Two Step is perfect at around 9 or 10 min. That was the best Jimi thing I've seen. Carter pounds like nobody’s business. I’ll never get tired of seeing him perform. DMB is loud as hell, in a good way. The mix sounded great. I feel every drum pound in my chest. Fun stuff, may try and add another show. It’s tough though, I’m in south Colorado, and Denver is far

Just looked at last night's setlist (compared to mine) I spotted two songs but only picked 6 songs correctly. I'm riding the struggle bus hard this tour. Instead of analyzing songs and slots I just threw a bunch of stuff into the game and hit enter:

Yeah the new Two Step arrangement should have been done years ago. It’s perfect. Drop the Tim and Carter solos. No need for those. Bridge right to the epic outro everyone loves.

Fantastic. Play it more! Crowd was going nuts for it last night around me.
