I've been waking up to Revolution 9 as my alarm clock all week, but I only get through the first 20ish seconds of "number nine. number nine. number nine." before I wake up. I think I'll start with listening to that in full this morning.

    Re: Album of the Day

research all day today - lots of music:

the national - high violet - loving this record - so dramatic, yet never gets cheesy - bravo - can't wait to see them w/beach house this summer
pavement - quarrantine the past - how can you you go wrong w/a little pavement?
the hold steady - heaven is whenever - very good, but nowhere near their best (sep. sunday, boys & girls...)
gayngs - relayted - definitely has grown on me - super hypnotizing - i can see this ending up in my top 10 of '10.
gaslight anthem - american slang - this will be my third listen - solid, but not even comparable to 59 sound (better than sink or swim though)
band of horses - infinite arms - my wife loves these guys (she got me into them by playing them all the time in the house) and i am starting to dig them more and more each day
black keys - brothers - just starting to get into this band - very addicting
lcd soundsystem - this is happening - my favorite album of the year thus far - just amazing
white stripes - get behind me satan - great

Nah the stream today. Listened to it like 3 times. Pretty good quality, and absolutely stellar record.

I wasn't really a fan of Caribou going into this, but I really, really liked Swim. Completely different style from that of Andorra, way more electronic. I dig it quite a bit.

La La Land isn't as strong as Parc Avenue but there are couple of gems all over the album. Personally think this one has been getting a bad wrap from critics, I think its much more enjoyable than most are letting on. But yeah, worth the listen for sure.

Hot, tasty jams. The lead singer's voice is quite abrasive, but I love this album.

    Obligatory friends' band mention:

Shook, out of Baltimore, released their EP this week. Their sound can be compared to Chromeo/Prince. And damn and I'm blown away with their production value.

I grew up with these kids and it's awesome to see them put out an impressive EP when I remember dicking around on guitar/drums with them to DMB songs.

So please, give it a listen. You might be surprised with what you hear.

A friend of mine is a DJ and hosts a dance party/show in Wilkes-Barre called Common People every month and this band just played it.

At first I didn't like Swim. Probably because of Odessa. It's so different from Andorra, which I think is the superior record, both in its songs and originality. However, Swim has its moments.

Listening to High Violet right now. Not quite halfway through yet, but this really started to click for me with "Afraid of Everyone."
