I thought it was four picks for gobert, but yeah it will definitely be interesting to see what they're going to be able to get and who will hold out in the game of chicken longer.

Apparently there is speculation the Jazz move Mitchell too.

**aahh you may have been including kessler who technically is a player rather than a pick at this point but I definitely wouldn't disagree with calling that "5 first round picks"

Full blow up is not what I was expecting, I figured they would try to go find a 1 next to him. Not sure what Mitchell could fetch.

for Gobert 3 unprotected was a fair price, one more was overkill

i have concerns about Gobert’s aging but he’ll be one of the most impactful defenders in the league for a few more years. cannot wait to see Towns’ and mostly Edwards’ career arc with Gobert and Finch

Good idea. But I’d start in Austin before I would Nashville. He’d probably demand a trade before they have a chance to fill out their roster though.

I don’t necessarily disagree. In general, I think people tend to overvalue picks a bit. Like what are the chances those unprotected picks become anywhere near Gobert (and I’m not even a huge Gobert guy)?

yeah, sometimes i have to remind myself that for small market teams, the only hope of being good is an unprotected pick. literally unprotected picks are a small market team’s only way to ever get a franchise guy, bc Joey All-Star isn’t taking his talents there willingly

any such bite at the apple is so much more valuable to a team like Utah than a team like LA or Miami

Divincenzo 2/9 to Golden State, great value weird fit

They don’t have the pieces to get it done. Hero and picks is like their best path. Nets can’t trade for Bam without moving Simmons.

Kind of nice going from Danny Ainge who was all talk and hoarding assets with no action to Stevens who is silent and makes good moves one after another

Didn’t you hate the Derrick White move at first?

I don't think hate is the right word, I thought it was redundant to get discount Smart who couldn't shoot or defend like Smart and that was the case throughout the regular season. White did help them when it mattered most in the playoffs and I think Stevens should get credit for it.

As for another move getting Horford wasn't the primary objective but Stevens crushed it with that one.

Fischer reports that Durant absolutely does not want to go to Golden State

consistent with the Windhorst “report” that seeing Golden State win without him is the reason for all this

he’s coming to terms with the fact that his rings are meaningless

look at you with the cap knowledge!!!! that’s a lesser known rule that never even crosses my mind

i agree Stevens is killing it, but the picks that i killed Ainge for not hitting have actually turned into stuff, namely Robert Williams and Grant Williams. swing and a miss with Langford and Nesmith but Stevens still flipped them for something good

Ainge’s time in Boston was past due but he’s doing well in Utah so far (again Zanek on the Jazz front office is good too so hard to say who’s doing what)

Garland 5/193 not including bonuses. rookie supermax

if you saw this in 2020 you would not believe. way to go kid!!!! Rubio is back along with Neto which should make Garland’s life even easier (since you know Levert and Rondo kinda stink)

i mean you have the triumvirate of Embiid, Harden, Maxey

not great at defense? well you have three of the best two-way playoff role guys you can name in Tucker, House, Melton, and not to mention Niang who’s absolutely an NBA finals player

flip Harris and Thybulle for some more depth at center or shooting and we are looking at a team with no weaknesses in any playoff series

i think Philadelphia has only their 2029 pick left to trade, but maybe even just do a heavily protected swap to go with Harris and try to get Beverley, Beasley, and Vanderbilt from Ainge. holy moly that’s my biggest wish, would be an absolutely no-weakness team

california summer league, focused only on Jovic

kinda lacks any athleticism, very stiff on both ends. massive for a guy who likes to play primarily as a shooting guard/perimeter guy. not surprised as i know he only brings shooting to the table but man, for a prospect he really brings nothing else

Pippen Jr. on the Lakers is pretty decent! wish he could move his feet on defense and had more size but overall a really competent floor general with lightning speed on the dribble

1q: love Keegan Murray’s approach to the game already. spaces out, lets the game come to him, ballmover, but his size and long arms immediate makes an impact. smooth jumper.

takes up so much space defensively, pushes the floor well, handle could be tighter

but man he is engaged on both ends and his size is an overwhelming presence on the perimeter

ok wow i really like Murray’s game, a bit of Rashard Lewis mentality, but the faceup game is like Paul George, comfortable forward and back, shifty. not sure if the handle is tight enough for the big boys yet but the the body and ability is there, he looks overqualified for summer league already

Holmgren with one of the more exciting summer league debuts in a while

do i DEFINITELY see something that will for sure translate to the big boys? no…but i definitely love what i see so far, the best he can possibly play tbh

also the threes and dribbling is nice but jesus the defense/rim protection is exciting so far
