Yea idk why the email says that unless they consider august stuff "fall". The IG post only says "some new summer dates".

It would make sense for them to take that large chunk of July off after Levitate and before Floyd with the rumored phish tour being during that time then pick back up in August running up/through Fred Fest. They have done a very good job not to tour when phish is running.

Red Rocks is rumored to be October, so it might be a bunch of dates from Mid August through October or something.

That seems like a negative for Goose fans

I must be missing something or not reading something correctly, Goose is deciding to not tour based on Phish's schedule?

Its a positive for both them and the community. Most people are also phish fans and everyone in the industry knows they take precedent for jam band fans. Its a smart strategy to maximize ticket sales and its better for fans bc it allows them to see both bands easier.

You are talking about playing in the same town on the same night correct? Honestly just trying to confirm

    No not at all.

Phish's main summer run is likely 2nd or 3rd week of July through first weekend of August.

Goose's last planned dates are first weekend of July and nothing until a fest at the end of July. Its likely they wont play any dates at all during when phish is scheduled to do their tour. Theres some inevitable overlap but they have definitely made it a conscious thing to avoid doing many shows while the phish machine is running.

Okay, sounds less than ideal for Goose fans to me but I didn't realize Phish's summer tour was that short

Why is it less than ideal for Goose fans if they have 25 shows prior to a short break and then more shows after that break?

"Hey is Goose playing around here anytime soon?"

"Nah they aren't playing since Phish is playing in Milwaukee"

They played 84 shows last year, its not limiting them in any way. Its just a strategic decision as to when to take time off.

You make it seem like they’d have otherwise played a certain market if not for the break.

    That’s not the case.

Is it bad for DMB fans when they take off a few weeks in august prior to the west coast swing?

That could be an answer if the question was being asked on July 8th and the person only wanted to see Goose within the next 30 days, I suppose.

I'd probably instead say "oh dude, you just missed them, but they will probably be back this fall!"

Not if you live in FL!

DMB scheduling time off for personal / band reasons isn't the same thing

Similar acts playing in the same town at the same time with the same fans with one clearly being the leader of the genre obviously creates business decisions where the lesser one wouldn't benefit. P!nk isn't going to perform at Mansfield (I know she's doing Fenway) the same night Taylor is performing at Gillette Stadium minutes down the road, deciding to not play shows for your fans because of a bigger band playing in a completely different part of the country seems like a stretch.

    Phish fans travel.

Goose's scheduling is allowing me to travel to see them at the end of June, and travel to see Phish in July.

Youre dying on a hill that doesnt make any sense. Theres people with access to way more data than you or I making these decisions and its working.

Taking 3 weeks off mid july affects nothing when theyre touring for months before hand and touring again after.

If phish and goose play at the same time, fans will be pulled one way or the other which obviously hurts sales, it doesnt matter what part of the country they are playing. This also isnt a goose specific thing. Phish avoids overlapping with Dead & Co, and lots of smaller jambands do the same thing trying to avoid phish in one way or another.

This niche is driven more by the live show dollars than other aspects of the music industry. These are all just simple business decisions. Goose isnt missing markets they should otherwise be hitting.

I've had general "I wish my favorite band toured more" sentiments but one thing that I've never thought is "it sucks for me as a fan of this band that I don't have a show to see from them specifically from mid-July to mid-August."

We just need the boys to set up an Orebolo residency in TS#'s hometown every time Phish is out touring and then everybody will be happy.

I just think it's unfortunate for Goose fans that they live in a shadow of Phish, same goes for any other band in their position

John mayer fans arent doing johns whole tour or flying to multiple cities to see him.

Its simply an alternate version of an artist choosing a different date for a certain city because another larger act in their genre is already playing there that day/week.

I dont think youre understanding how extensive the touring schedules are in this genre of music.

    Who gives a shit?

Doesn’t sound like they’re planning on adding any dates and even if TLP is right, I’m no longer holding out hope for anything close by.

Maybe Fred Fest will happen and I can travel for that or something
