You East Coasters are so lucky. In the PNW, we have the Gorge box set from 2002 and Live Trax 44 from 2016. I’d kill for anything in between.

We are on our first trip away from home since February to a family (extended that is) house in RI. Yesterday we took our boys to Newport to check out the scenery on Ocean Drive and hang at the beach a bit, as well as to grab some dinner (curbside) from the Smokehouse. As such, we weren't able to watch this week's Drive-In during the shared "live" stream, but we watched it tonight.

Nice show. Lots of drop outs of Boyd, were those related to him being off that night and/or technical issues? Is this where Timmy started get too loud or again was this just related to this show (or the mix thereof)? I was noticing that I like Rashawn more on some of these older shows than I do now, and I'm a fan of the trumpet and enjoy it within DMB (albeit completely superfluous). He's a great player, but he seems to have fallen into more rote playing these past coupla tours.

It was cool to see the transition to Rockbridge, but still having a relying on the Taylors. Must have been a sharp bridge saddle cutting into the D-strings that popped twice. Seeing his older #1 Rockbridge in pristine condition was kinda cool.

Now i am wondering whether there could be a new concert or even more than one (if the setup worked they could have taped multiple sets etc!) that will be released in honor of the Gorge weekend?? I am not expecting it whatsoever but it suddenly dawned on me that it is going to be the time of their traditional showcase weekend! Why it wouldn't have been announced yet could be that it is intended to be a fundraising concert weekend that might be able to raise more if people are surprised by an announcement, leading to lots of word of mouth excitement, and it becomes a big music news story etc!!

Probably just the DVD. Cool video but not a full show.

Not much to get excited about here... maybe some better audio on 8.30.19, hopefully.

3 shows is pretty awesome. Maybe they’ll do a virtual fall tour, that’d be cool

What if on Sunday, 9/6, they air the ENTIRE Gorge 2002 run - like, a 7+ hour marathon of all 3 shows, back to back to back, starting in the afternoon and going into that evening?

(I'm sure that's not what's happening, lol. Just thinking of ways they could make it more special than simply airing what we're all assuming is the compilation DVD they've already released.)

8/31/19 was a great show. Good opener, some surprise tunes and a solid close. Happy to see this on video. I knew we’d get LT44.

I think 2 of the shows will be highlights from the Gorge 2002 weekend. Rumor is they initially planned to release the entire weekend as a DVD box set, but they had issues with the footage. I think the third show will be LT 44

They already announced what the shows are going to be next FRI-SUN...

    FRI: 8/30/2019
    SAT: LT 44 (9/4/2016)
SUN: Gorge 2002 (not 100% sure what this means, but prob just the songs that were on the 2002 DVD)

It’s cool that they’re doing the Gorge — very deserving to get the multi-day treatment — but the funny thing about the Gorge is that by the time the show starts the sun is pretty much set and you kinda lose a lot of the atmosphere. So it doesn’t necessarily translate to video.

I was wondering if i was the only one to notice boyd's solos being cut. And I think this is a fairly big deal. And surprised nobody has talked about it. I could be very wrong though.

The two cuts I have seen so far are during seek up (although it's not too flagrant) and a more obvious one during his TBillies solo. The TB cut was because boyd was off, the band transitioned and boyd kept soloing. I think this happened twice live, but they only edited once.

Twice he kept playing while the band tried to retreat. You see the first time Dave is heading to stefan during the violin solo (i am sure non-verbal communication saying, "violin solo over, transition out of it") but then Dave turns back around pretty quickly and you actually see him laughing as he and the band continue to appease boyd.

Then, it happens again but this is when he is simply edited out. They literally fade the violin out of the sound. It would be interesting to listen to the live tape to hear what it sounded like live and know whether or not the sounds guys were in on this as well. Whether or not fenton cut him out live. You wonder if they had some type of communication or sign to be able to do that. Anyhow, eventually, and very slowly, ever so slightly fade it back in later. So it is a combination of not sounding good whatsoever as well as boyd not playing with the band.

You also see it as the band is getting ready for the transition back into the chorus, you see Boyd come to a complete stop and he walks away back to his corner a good 15 seconds before they transition back to the chorus. The transition highlight is generally boyd's violin. But he walks away. To me, this whole episode during TBillies, and how boyd just walks away during his no. 1 solo of the entire show, it tells me that there was some serious tension in the band at this time. And was probably a big factor as to why they took a "break." And if that is the case, its clear it is beausse of boyd. Either he is pulling his friends tails on purpose, live on stage, by over playing, or he is just way off musically and doesn't understand when he should and should not be playing. His walks off and Dave's laugh tells the story here. We all see what has happened to boyd since this. And it looks like Dave took control probably at the very last minute before this stuff started seeping out and becoming more public. Which again plays in Dave's favor as he has stated that he is loyal to a fault.

People complain about LT44 a lot, but despite its flaws, it is a really good show. There’s only three complaints I really have about it, 1.) They mess up one bar during the [spoiler]Typical Situation[spoiler] jam, 2.) Carlos Malta delivers a lackluster solo during [spoiler]Say Goodbye[spoiler], and 3.) Dave’s voice.

#1 and 2 are really no biggie. #3 is a deal breaker for many people, but the rest of the band performed so good. Lots of passion in the playing, and this ends up being Boyd’s last DMB show. Plus, the setlist ain’t shabby.

This is an incredibly weak way to end the series. They cover it up the laziness by giving us 3 nights. One is fucking 2019, and nobody wants that. One is a DVD that’s already on the market, and from another not so great year. The other night is probably just live at the Gorge 2002, like the exact same thing that we all have had on DVD for years.

Would have been a lot more satisfying had they choose a whole show from the 2002 run. Getting the full show video of 9/7/02 or 9/8/02 would be incredible. 9/6/02 is weaker, but even that would be so much better than what we are going to get. I wouldn’t even need the two other shows if this was the case.

Ok let’s say the video for the whole show is messed up for some reason in 2002. They have to have a full show video from 1998-2004 even if it’s just the feed from the screen. 8/6/00 would be fantastic. Something like that. Is it that hard to release a show that not a live release and not 2019? Lazy as hell.

Also the video series didn’t even last the whole summer tour Southaven was supposed to be 9/23. They could have at least done a few more weeks of this.
