Re: Help out the troops around the world

i would like to donate blank cd-r's to someone who is reliable so they could burn concerts and send them. would some fellow ants nominate some people who are trustworthy and would do a great job. please im or email me and tell me how to get in contact with the person you are nominating. i do not as of yet have a cd burner but i am saving hard. i think it is great that people would come together to do this.

email me - brinks56@beer.com

    All:

I've noticed that there are some in this thread that don't necessarily have the means to either burn or download shows. If you want me to burn a show for someone you know overseas, please let me know. Check out my lists. I'm in the Marines, and have fellow service members overseas. I'm always looking to lend a hand. Thanks again to everyone for helping out our fellow brothers and sisters in arms.

Well, I am finally home and I wanted to say thank you for all of the shows we recieved. It definitely brightened a lot of the soldiers' days. There was even a mini trading community over there, some were fortunate (and brave) enough to bring their own laptops. The interest in the Dave shows never waned, however. Instead of sending the shows to me the new person to send them to is:

    LT Altamirano
    394th AG
    FOB Warrior
    APO, AE 09338

Thanks again, so very much for all that you all sent and did.

    Very sincerely,
    Joshua M. Patton

I just wanted to say that I think what you guys are doing is great! My husband is there and he said that him and the other guys would love to receive some shows, the only problem is that he sees it as a security risk to post his address on here.. so I won't be able to do that. But I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who is sending shows to the troops!!

ok So this is a great idea. As a troop that is not deployed right now I would love to help you all out. Umm one thing that you could conside is getting APO addresses and sending them to platoon/ flight commanders and letting them distribute them... If anyone wants some addresses I'd love to helped... but as far as shows I am technology handicapped and can't figure out how to get the stupid downloaders to work. So I can't send any. But addresses or donations I would love to help with.

yes, id be more then willing to send my fellow brothers and sisters some dave.im ex-navy so i know how much this would be appreciated. need addresses. a good way to do this would be sending then all out together if more then one person from same command is asking. shows i currently have are:10-21 & 22-2006, 10-24-2002, 12-16-2006, 8-21-1991, 11-27-1991, 5-5-1992, 6-3-2006, 6-14-2006, 7-1 & 2-2006.
shows im currently waiting for and will offer for this as well once i have them are: 2-7-1999, 3-19-2003, 2-5-06 (2 versions), 5-5-95, 7-30-2001, 9-1,2 & 3-2006 (will post here as i get these shows.)
i also have various live versions of songs, covers, debuts, and such im willing to offer but they are mp3 format. inspite of this the quality is very good.

There are also a few places you can go aside from the Ants "take a download/leave a download" that are really awesome:

    Dave Solo, D+T, etc.

A wealth of shows...kim is awesome!

I'd also like to extend my gratitude and offer up any show I have for a B&P. This i smade more difficult by my not having my list synchronized with ants, but if I see an ISO in this thread, I will gladly fill it if I can.

    Ants,

Just wanted to thank you all for your enthusiasm in doing something nice for the guys and gals out here in country. You may not always get a response from every soldier/sailor/marine but I will assure you that folks look forward to opening everything from a letter to a package filled with coffee from starbucks. I saw this thread and wanted to give you all some feedback that it’s a great idea and another reason I have enjoyed being a part of these boards in the past and into the future.

Ironically I have actually created several local fans. Seems like the Iraqis I work with really like the band!!!!!

P.S. I just got back from my RandR vacation and was able to hit Jazzfest as well as both Atlanta nights... Had a fantastic time.

Hey all, what a great idea!
Active-Duty Army Sergeant here, just got back from my second trip to Iraq (first one 12 months in Ramadi, this one 14&1/2 months at Hammer/Striker/Falcon).
I'm stationed in Germany, and just used some of my block-leave to see the show in Wolverhampton, UK and it was G-R-E-A-T!! Tim, Rashawn, and Jeff Coffin were superb, Dave had great banter with the crowd, and of course Carter is always amazing.
I've been a fan since Crash, yet this is only the second show I've got to see. Saw the full band, Leroi included, at the Point in Dublin 23May07, which was my wedding anniversary JUST after my first deployment, and we didn't know at the time but my wife was pregnant with our (only) daughter.
Even just being here in Germany means I don't get a lot of chance to go to places like Gorge, Red Rocks, etc so even just the idea of people thinking of Soldiers overseas means a lot.
Our unit is *already* slotted for a rotation to Afghanistan just under a year from now.. dates subject to a wide berth of change naturally.. a bit frustrating considering I've spent 2 of the last 3 years away from my wife and daughter, I've left a 6 month old and came back to a nearly 20 month old girl, and already know roughly when we're set to go back for more..
But once again guys, even just knowing that people out there are so kind and thinking of us means the world.. think I'll be popping on here quite a lot in the future, especially when deployed, just to get a bit of a Dave-fix!

I should add that sadly I don't know of *anyone* else in my unit (FSB) that is a Dave fan... but if anyone wants to say hi to a long-distance American, my email is thomas.beaulieu@us.army.mil.
