Kirby Smart is Mark Richt, Mark Richt is Kirby smart...One thing Kirby didn't learn from his time with Saban is Saban's willingness to adapt and evolve his offense. The old school system that Kirby is stuck on stifles the talent of any dynamic QB or WR they sign. Georgia is the one team in the SEC that has similar talent to Bama, but Kirby refuses to use it properly, smh.

Cannot get caught looking ahead to Ohio St, especially with the limited offseason, 1st game of the year, etc.

I think Kirby is better than Richt and will at some point soon get over the hump. But we need a dynamic QB. One that could play at the next level. There is no salary cap in the NCAA, go get a stud QB. We have everything else. Sadly we had one in Fields but Kirby didn't pull the trigger and let him play over Fromm. Fromm was good but was nothing special. He took the job from Eason and Eason then transferred. The same should have happened with Fields. He should have taken Fromm's job. He is just better at football than Fromm. Imagine how good UGA could/would be now with Fields!!!!!

That is a fair point about UGA if Fields would have stayed. Had not crossed my mind this season.

Same can be said on the flip side about Ohio State. Had Fields not transferred there, I believe they woulda been stuck with Tate Martell last year (and maybe even this year) who as we all know is terrible.

To think if Burrow stayed at tOSU and Fields stayed at Georgia. The CFB landscape might be much different.

QB has been UGA's issue since Stafford. We could've had Cam, Watson, Lawrence, or Fields. All are from Georgia and only 1 ever even came here. But he didn't stay very long.

I don’t think Kirby knows how to use a QB like that. In UGA’s system, their talents would just go to waste.

They might "go to waste" but letting Fields talent "go to waste" would still be miles better than Stenson Bennett's best possible performance.

Yup. Newman really fucked us over with the timing of everything. I have no ill will towards the kid for making the decision. Whether it was covid or NFL related. But the timing was really shitty. We put all our eggs in that basket and it fucked us over the way he did it.

Absolutely. He got to play sooner, at a very prestigious university, and in an easier conference. Its a win, win, win for him. I dont blame him either. These guys get 3 years to get themselves in the best position possible to make millions at the next level. Sitting behind a guy you are clearly better than for one game more than you need to is a bad choice.

He absolutely is especially as a recruiter. But that is the standard now for UGA. Beating Bama is the only thing we haven't done with Kirby. We are now a perennial top 5 team, the favorite in the East every season. Our only hurdle is Bama. How we do against them is how Kirby will be judged.

I’m judging him based off what he’s accomplished, and I don’t see anything that Richt hadn’t accomplished up to this point. It’s like you are forgetting that Richt was a damn good coach at UGA. I guess the only difference would be that Richt actually beat Bama early on, even after Saban arrived.

Not with two losses. If we’re going by the playoff standards, it’s most likely Bama, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Kansas State. Florida probably would have been the last team left out.
