What was the last movie you watched?

Last night I watched Black Death and Dracula Untold. Not my first time seeing either, but I enjoy both. Black Death much more, but Untold is an interesting enough Vlad story.

agreed--I did too....but then again the second half of your sentence applies to literally the entire genre, personally.

My top 5 of the year so far are very different from each other. It’s been a pretty good movie year. There’s also quite a bit still to come out. I’m ready to check out Tar and Triangle of Sadness by the end of the week.

I watched The Gore Gore Girls and The Wizard of Gore yesterday, and as their titles suggest it was basically blood and guts for the sake of blood and guts. Not my thing, but there’s an audience for it.

Both are good, but TAR is outstanding. I haven’t stopped thinking about it since seeing it last weekend. Blanchett gives a career best performance, and that’s no small feat for her.

I’ll be traveling through Tuesday, so that means a movie hiatus apart from what drops on streaming this week (which is quite a bit actually). Looking forward to The Banshees of Inisherin and Decision to Leave when I get back.

I have heard nothing but great things about Tar, I’m really excited for it. I think Banshees and Armageddon Time will be around here next week. Still nothing close for Decision to Leave. Although I found an independent theater in Charlotte that will be for sure playing it soon, so I might make a reason to go to Charlotte for a day to see it

Decision to Leave is actually playing 20 minutes away from me on this trip, but there’s no way I’ll be able to convince my traveling companion to see it.

Might be able to swing Till this weekend. Armageddon Time will be available here next week, but I’m not all that excited for it.

EEAAO's main problem is that it became too hyped up. I think there is a sweet spot for hype for some movies. Just the right amount gets people who were on the edge the confidence to go see it. Too much hype gets people who were bound to dislike it to see it and end up hating it. I think it deserved some (or even a lot of) hype and it should be seen by a lot of people, but I don't think it deserved some hype that was calling it the greatest movie ever made. That kind of hype sets it up for failure or not meeting expectations. For me, it was one of those movies that I'm glad the hype pushed me to see it and go in with an open mind to not judge it too early, but I can see how it wouldn't resonate with some people.
