Yea the beginning was great. Very eerie feel with everyone in their windows with their phone pointed at her. Then the dude with the mask on running at her.

I liked the twist at the end, but yea pretty fucked up.

Watched it and thought the same thing. Eyes bugged out when I realized the episode was from 2013!

Love this series so far. The History of You and Nosedive and Be Right Back are fascinating looks at where technology could take us and the double edged swords it could potential create.

It's funny with how we are now totally submerged in the internet age, that particularly we who really follow entertainment with a lot of passion, we often wind up knowing so much about a project long before we ever actually see the finished product. You so rarely get surprised.

which is what was so awesome about this. I knew of course that a 4th season of Black Mirror was happening, that it was once again 6 episodes long, but honestly didn't even know anything about if shooting had already commenced. Well perhaps it's already totally done, because a teaser trailer's been dropped, and while no specific date, we'll have it all by the holiday season.

Watching Be Right Back right now. This show is unnerving. I could never do something like that if it were possible.

The entire history of you poses interesting social questions though. Would you want to have a chip inserted in you that would allow you to replay everything you've ever done or witnessed?

well I think the beauty in the storytelling, I'm not sure that you could say for sure if you'd wind up doing something like this, until you were right there with such profound love having been so freshly taken away from you. Of course I would hope it's not something you'd have to choose for a very long time, if ever

I forget if I've brought this up before, but the production company Team Downey (Robert Downey Jr along with his producer wife, Susan) optioned the feature film rights of the basic concept of that episode. It's not that they wanted to make a straight up feature version of that episode, but just the fundamental idea of having tech implanted in your head to record all activity then play it back on any screen, the machinations of the tech how it's shown in the episode. They wanted to use that seed for some kind of real edgy psychology thriller movie.
But, that was also like AT LEAST 2 full years ago now, I've not heard a single word since the deal was first made. and who knows what RDJ has planned for the next half decade. A lot of rumors Tony Stark will be dead by end of Avengers 4 (well they'd have to do yet another major restructure of his contract for more at that point if going for more) and in fact saw just in the last day or two he was planning to star in a reboot of the old Perry Mason TV show, as a detective. The original True Detective writer (Nick Polattzo?) was in charge of that but apparently is now leaving because HBO's getting serious about having True Detective s3 getting back to original quality form.

I mean other than Sherlock Holmes (and who the fuck KNOWS if/when #3 will happen), truth is RDJ has nothing successful really when he's out of the Iron Man suit.

The storytelling is phenomenal. The episodes are totally believable and that is what makes them so unnerving. I suppose you're right. If that technology was available and I was in that situation I'm sure it would be tempting. I just don't think I could live with a soulless robot copy of my fiance. I hope that I'm never in that situation relationship or technology wise. I'm looking forward to watching the next episode tonight.

Thought about this after watching this ep. Definitely not, I think memories are supposed to fade with time. Relationships couldn't handle this feature, if you could watch and rewatch your significant other or anyone interacting with others. You'd become obsessed and go crazy.

That's exciting, but also a lot of pressure for him. Hopefully he/the network hires a good team of writers this time around. Despite his talent, you just can't create a world on your own over and over within a few years' time.

It wouldn't just be romantic relationships. People would be obsessed with every interaction and over analyzing them they would drive themselves mad.

Playtest was definitely overall a pretty quality episode, though it was sooooooo NOT cool how they have that gigantic fucking spider come virtually out of nowhere bursting into the scene at that one point

really good episode. I feel like they cast the main character dude really well, I liked the character and the actor if that makes sense.

Might have to watch some of these tonight.

San junipero is the best one hands down.

The ethnic cleansing one is second.

    Then the social media one.

All three have very poingnant commentary on current events.

Watched some of season 3 yesterday. They proper fucked me up. Playtest, Shut Up and Dance, San Junipero (actually uplifting), and Men Against Fire.

Men Against Fire was a lot like the movie Equilibrium, but I liked how it was aimed toward the miliatry. Very 1984-ish. Playtest was just crazy. Was not expecting that ending whatsoever. Hated the guy at first tbh. Shut Up and Dance was terrifying and was not expecting any of that to happen whatsoever. Sort of like Requiem for a Dream I would guess.

Story and production are fantastic. The acting is meh, which makes sense because they recycle the cast each episode. I was impressed.

Crazy how the episode where the main characters both die is the best one

Meh. They were dead to begin with. That's the premise of the program.
