Their worst album is definitely Fungus Amongus. That album sucks major ballz. I like all their others though.
Disagree wholeheartedly. I love Fungus. Great experimental music.

I like fungus I just need to be in the right mood to listen to it. It's very proficient musically but Brandon had not found his voice yet

as a whole it's probably better than light grenades, which I like and think has it's moments but was not very guitar driven, which is what incubus needs at this point. Fungus and science are both bass driven albums, mike was really not the focus of the sound then, but aside from a few moments on a crow left I don't think mike has stepped up to deciding what direction incubus needs to move in with his guitar playing. Brandon has plenty of love songs to sing with his shirt off, now we need a guitar driven funky, spacey, blow your mind incubus record.

There are some good songs on Fungus, but the album as a whole isn't that great.

Mike can really rip it up. I don't know why they never jam or spotlight his solo's more... really wish they did this. He has his shining moments like the SOLO in Summer Romance. Various other solos along the way, but they really seem to be lax on spotlighting his solo's or jamming. They do experiment, which is good, don't get me wrong. Wish they would use his talent a lot more.

The jam song "Battlestar Galactica" on Make Yourself is a prime example.

I've been an Incubus fan since S.C.I.E.N.C.E. came out and I've really yet to see Mike completely break out of his shell. This might stir the bee-hive but I really think Mike pulls off a Trey/Zappa/Mr.Bungle - ESKE sound.

If you take Fungus for what it is...a collection of demos by a group of four fifteen/sixteen year olds....it's pretty damn good. The songs may not shine, but I think their skills absolutely do. They had chops for such youngins.

The acoustic version of Pardon Me is incredible. Mike came up with an amazing progression for that. So much fun to play.

I think Sink Beneath the Line is a Badass Song! All the songs that are on Fungus and the Enjoy ep, I'd have to take the Enjoy versions.

If you go to incubus-online forums, there is a thread that you could post questions and Mike would answer. They had one for Ben too. and Rennie their manager. go to that site and search the thread. it's all I can give you because I read it there a while ago.

    That's a fan's account...not really reliable.

Mike has said that he's written SOME of the bass parts in the past, but he never said all.

He's an incredible musician. I totally understand where you're coming from. Mike has admitted many times that Ben is a better guitarist than him as well.

Ben is an incredible musician. His solo stuff is pretty damn sweet, he playes drums (his original instrument) guitar bass and sings and they sound fucking good.

My fave is Not Today, check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgjpBm1K7_g

That whole album is great. This is definitely my favorite track on it too, I never knew he could sing until I heard this. He rips a nasty guitar solo in this song as well. Eulogy is such a great tune as well, I used to listen to it every day.

Ben's solo stuff is awesome. Maduro and Distance and Comfort are two great albums. Also, seeing him in NYC was an a great time too. It was in an old movie theater and you could basically go sit it the seats, smoke a doob, then go hit front row. I literally had my elbows on the stage.

I love the video Ben had of Eulogy on his myspace a while back. The one where the screen was split into fourths and it was him playing the different instrumets. That shit was bad ass.

Ps. No problem on finding that thread. If you guys love incubus as much as I do I suggest you guys go use those forums. It's the ants marching of Incubus sites.
