I wish Tim wasn't in the band and I'm not a big electric guitar solo fan in general although there are exceptions, he occasionally does exciting things, Trey playing on LIOG at SPAC in '04 was great.

No falsetto, no belting or power, always the same emotional level for an entire show with a lot of the same phrasing, same feel the whole time. KevinTH puts more emotion into a show. For me as a listener jamming is secondary to the structure of a song and everything else I just listed, I'm sure there is good electric guitar playing in Phish.

You chose a quiet Trey solo acoustic show to prove your point? A little strange but ok, yes, it is quiet and his voice does not have much range.

You do realize there are quite a few Phish songs that have more unique, dynamic, and intricate structures that do not include improvisational jamming than anything DMB would ever attempt right? I’m not sure what your point there was.

Yes, TS, there is “good electric guitar” in Phish...

Ive grown past caring for the most part, but I cant sympathize with someone dismissing them offhand or even dmb in the same way. Most people that say stuff like that dont give the band theyre referring to a proper chance, or categorize them completely in one manner or another, much like your bus driver comment.

You cant honestly say if someone said that to your face about dmb you wouldnt at least get a little knot in your stomach and want to correct them.

To say that while being a DMB and presumably D&F fan is either ignorant bc they are one of those closed minded type of people, or it’s hypocritical. It’s definitely not very self aware

This. There are phans who say the same about DMB while also liking similar music. It’s not a good look. 90% of the time it’s hating just because they can.

I’d defend DMB the same way

People laughed about me going to The Gorge to see DMB, one person in particular who loves Kraut rock which is something I've never heard of, didn't feel the need to correct him or explore something I'm not into

Dude, I have explained this over and over. Not liking a band doesn’t equate “unlistenable”. I already went over this, so stop with the like/don’t like stuff.

There are plenty of bands or artists that I don’t like, but that doesn’t mean they are “unlistenable” to me. I don’t like the album “Come Tomorrow”, but it’s not “unlistenable”.

I listen to more D&T and Dave solo than DMB, yeah it's not a Phish show but it all falls under the same thing

Seems like it usually does as we get closer to dates getting released, you get more people in here. Wish it would stay to tour rumors only as we start getting more information around this time and some of the posts are going to get buried In debates over phish and fireworks 14.5 years ago.

Try this again...has the Raleigh/VA Beach b2b supplanted the Bristow/BA Beach b2b. Depending upon the southern (as opposed to mid-Atlantic) schedule, there might be logistical sense. Meh on both VA venues though...and the sets haven’t been anything special either.

Phish is un listenable for some people. I play phish all the time at my parents house and they hate it. They call it the worst music they ever heard. They said they couldn’t make it through a phish show beacause it would drive them crazy. I just laugh it off and tell them that phish is the best.

Maybe I misread your post about fireworks, and if so I apologize - was this an official fireworks show with safety officials that do this for a living?

If not, then boasting about lighting off fireworks in a place like the Gorge is like boasting about drunk driving or smoking/drinking while pregnant. I've had a drink or two and drove before, I'm not proud of it and thankfully nothing bad happened from it. I've also lost friends by such activities and stopped when I grew up.
