Re: John Mayer

I'm wondering how he bought tix at 830 and got to the show at 8:45. That's impressive anywhere, more so at Lakewood.

My Warehouse premiums for D&T at Alpharetta this year were front row far outside. Show started and the 4 dead center front row seats were empty so we took them, ticketholders didn't show up until 5 songs it. I think acts/venues are holding back these particular seats for super VIPs then releasing them after the start if not needed. I'm calling them the "Madonna Seats". Will be hoping for the same drop tomorrow for Counting Crows and Matchbox 20 at Lakewood.

Live downtown, took Pryor St straight there, avoided 75/85

I forgot to post this earlier in the week. It was definitely a good mix of people at the Nashville show on Tuesday. I'm 39, but there were 50 years olds there, and a bunch of teenagers (who didn't know Why Georgia when he played it).

I was surprised by the number of people who didn't know he was doing chapters. When he went off the stage after the first chapter, they were confused and wondering what was happening. I guess if you are just a casual fan, maybe you didn't see the new that he was going to do that when he announced the tour.

If you post on a message board, you are always more than a casual fan. When I saw him in Vegas, I thought it was a near perfect show. He had a great mix of new and old tunes and the chapters were perfectly executed.

On the way out there was this mid-30s bitch who was complaining super loudly about how he didn't play ANY of his good songs like Waiting on the World to Change and instead chose to play a Tom Petty Cover, and it wasn't even one of Tom's "good" songs.

I'll leave the link for the Vegas show here just for reference. You can't please all of the people all of the time...

That is a cool set. I'm seeing him Wednesday in Raleigh. The *only* thing about that set that makes me shake my head is the two current-album songs in the E1 slot. That's kinda bold, to me. Seems like he could've played one more oldie there, then finished with ...Live Forever In Me in the E2. Just a preference, tho. He did stack the older tunes in the last run with the band, though, so it's whatever.

Getting to see Why Georgia live was my climax at that show. I cried my eyes out and felt my John Mayer Live experience had been fulfilled. Do I still have songs I want to catch live? Of course.

    Edge of Desire
    No Such Thing
    In Your Atmostphere
Who Did You Think I Was?
    Walt Grace
    City Love
    Out Of My Mind
    Covered in Rain

Just to name a few... (I've only seen him twice, this tour and the B&R/PV post surgery tour 2013)

But overall, I feel completely satisfied with my two shows. The first show at Riverbend in 2013 was super disappointing because he was in a different place in his life, but the Vegas show was basically everything I could have asked for. I cried for a majority of the show in Vegas because of how happy and serene the moment/show was for me.

This man will always be my musical hero. I don't think i've ever connected with an artist the way I have with John.

The only time I've seen him was in 2010 on the Battle Studies tour.

    This was the set:

    Heartbreak Warfare
    Crossroads
    Vultures
    Bigger Than My Body
Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
    Perfectly Lonely
    Assassin
    3x5
Waiting on the World to Change
    Half of My Heart
    Why Georgia
    No Such Thing
    Say

    Encore
    Who Says
    Gravity

Other than it being a relatively short show, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Could've used maybe one or two more from Heavier Things for my taste, but I dug the flow.

I have seen John Mayer 3 times now.

First time I saw him was in 2003 or 2004 at MSG. I honestly don't remember the year now. Is there a way to look that up?

I also say the John Mayer Trio at Radio City in 2005 for the Katrina show, and of course I caught him with Dead and Co this year!

Think I've seen Mayer 6 times now. Once in the Heavier Things era, 3 times during the Continuum era, once on the Born & Raised/Paradise Valley tour, and once this past tour.

For real. Our uber driver took the back not on 75. Got off beforehand at the Ted and went through the hood and came up behind the HS football stadium. Very easy tbh

Sounds like Pryor St, which we took, but didn't bother going all the way around the backside to the football stadium.

And for clarification, bought tickets at 8:00 (not 8:30) and we were in seats at 8:45..."I am no superman"*

Still good timing! I made the mistake of not taking liquor in. Spent too much on those insane $13 beers

I know some of you all checked out the link from when he was on the Bobby Bones Show in Nashville last week. They actually recorded 60 minutes of material (only played 30ish on the radio). That link is the rest of the interview. Lots more good stuff in there.

Helpless was my favorite of his new songs at the show I attended. I was hearing it in my head for a few days after and loving it.

What time has he been going on stage? Is there an opener?

Really fun show. First time seeing him and I thought the Chapters worked really well and didn't mess with the flow as much as some people have said. The early acoustic stuff medley with him remembering while playing was pretty unique and came off as humble. I thought the story about buying all those guitar pedals and the curious FedEx guy was funny before LOTW. Would definitely go again. I think overall the Trio run of Wait til tomorrow, Good Love is On the Way, and Vultures was my favorite. Oh and not a bad first date..

He came on around 9 in Nashville. I've heard he's been out as early as 8:45. And there is an opener.
