Re: What are you reading right now?

"Disney's Land: Walt Disney and the Invention of the Amusement Park That Changed the World"

About 65% through this. It's a tedious read but pretty interesting.

Finally finished "Petty" by Warren Zanes. If you like Tom Petty or really good biographies (Tom is interviewed as are the Heartbreakers and more), it's worth the buy.

Re: What are you reading right now?

Finished (as an audiobook of course) Empire of Pain. I know there are some other books and films that cover the same subject, but the author (same as the author of Say Nothing, one of my favorite non-fiction books ever written) is just so good on how much detail he covers. It changed my mind on a lot of things, as back in the 2000s, I thought too many doctors were being prosecuted (and I still think that were some overzealous prosecutors, but I understand why now). What a depressing family. Anyway, highly recommend.

I read Crying in H Mart a few weeks ago. Smashed through it in a weekend. Heavy material, but emotionally intense. Solid even if you're not a Japanese Breakfast fan, I thought.

Pretty fascinating tour of the universe and Earth’s history and how we came to understand the forces of nature.
Chapter 13 Bang! is particularly engrossing and terrifying. He paints a mesmerizing picture of asteroid impacts.

I started The Third Reich by Thomas Childers earlier today and am already 140 pages into it. It's terrific so far - definitely recommend to anyone who loves WW2 history.

Just finished Command and control. It covers the development and deployment of nuclear weapons with heavy focus on accidents. We came so close on numerous occasions to all out nuclear war mostly due to human error.

This one is on my list to get to in the very near future. I've taken a few cracks at it before but it always ended up getting pushed aside and never finishing it. I would say that is much more to do with me and my bad habits of spending too much time on my phone/social media than the actual quality of the book though.
