This is a really bad song, and it somehow is even worse in a live setting. Completely forgettable.

Why do you think it's worse live versus studio?

Dave sounds like shit on vocals, and the song itself sounds hollow and empty.

I love this song. I think it's better in studio just because of the depth with the string parts & the energy brought with the drums. Carter seems more quiet / timid on this song live, and Dave's voice is nowhere near studio quality when he sings it live. He sounds amazing on the studio track.

I'm with you on this one. It's one of several songs on this album that's rock bottom for Dave lyrically, and nothing that happens musically is enough to overcome that.

I know this is all opinion-based but I think there are a lot of "wrong" takes in here, this song is great live and I'm hopeful they continue to expand upon it.

It's a shame the song is empty when played live. Come on Come on soars on the album. I guess that's the downfall when recording with an orchestra. It needs strings. I feel like Buddy could really help fill out the beginning and maybe some saxophone. The song needs more emphasis in a live setting.

I see the negative Nancies have come out in force since the last time I browsed this thread. Meh... to each their own... I believe all you negative Nancies are WRONG...

I still love this song... favorite on the album by far... and I enjoy it live too. The lyrics are great in my opinion... and that's the only opinion that REALLY matters to me.

I think a lot of you need the lyrics to have a secret hidden meaning to somehow make it *cool* enough to be on THE LIST of your songs that you allow yourself to enjoy. Like you need to be able to make up a series of mysteries in your head that may or may not really exist... like the movie "National Treasure". (insert Nick Cage confused meme here)

No secret meaning is necessary to make a song good. And normally, I'm not one to criticize Dave's lyrics. But "I just want to make you come" is pretty overt. I mean, come on! And the whole bit with cupid's arrow..

I like the music though. Love the strings! And Dave's voice sounds good on it. Wish it sounded better in a live setting. Oh well.

    This is absolutely my take.

I can definitely be a lyric snob at times. But there's difference between simple and weak.

I love Here On Out for its lyrics, and the music moves along with it. COCO has some truly terrible lines, with a lot of repetition and the music just trudges on beside all that mess

I don't enjoy this song but I enjoy most if not all of the other stuff on the album.

This song is a buzz kill, its not a masterpiece. Its literally 2 chords basically the entire song, with cheesy lyrics, and a pretty boring vocal delivery.

Just so we’re clear, everybody understands that the song is literally about making a girl cum, right? There’s no ‘hidden meaning’ in this song.
