Would you like to know why we do/can? The board was completely different back then. If you go through my 8000 posts and threads (please don't), you'll see a ton of random stuff, but that's how it was back then. It was a completely different animal.

We all liked each other, knew each other really well, and there were a lot more active members. The board has changed, I'd say for the worse, but I don't know, really. All I know is it isn't what it was 15 years ago, and that is to be expected.

My son was 5 when I joined and now he's in college. I was a successful person when I joined and now I'm a mess. Life changes, but that's ok.

My point wasn't to throw around the join date to rub it in his face, it was to ask if he was a different username before 2008 and part of the boards. It would make it easier to explain the randomness.

Saying "You started the West Wing thread and didn't do anything else" is kind of insulting. He only knows I started the WW thread because it's the first thing that comes up when my username is searched and/or it's a relatively active thread.

I contributed a hell of a lot to the board and we were all really tight with each other. We shared our lives with each other on this board. I still have friends I made from here, and still think about a bunch of people who I met and talked to from back then.

I frequent the WW thread often. But yea I searched your thread creations to see why you were banned from creating threads because I was curious. You have a lot of random threads, so that is why I figured you were banned from creating threads.

That wasn't why. I just butted heads with an admin and I pushed it over the top. Randomness had nothing to do with it. It was encouraged, and was the practice. Back when this place was rolling, if I wasn't on here for a day, I probably had to go 10 pages back to catch up. I go 10 pages now and it's like, two months ago.

It was when this board started to actually connect with DMB that a lot of the rules changed, and for a bunch of us, it was hard to deal with. I'm just very good at running my mouth (I know I'm writing, but writing 'running my fingers' just feels creepy).

You could create a thread for the sole purpose of allowing thread banned members to list prospective threads. However, I think that could lead to your joining their ranks.

I've gotten the former not the latter. our bonuses kick in in late october so I don't believe anyone really notices / cares

I think 2 out of 3 years I've gotten like a $1-200 amex card around christmas, not sure if it's "policy" or not for our group
